Pinkbike Poll: Is The Gearbox Fantasy Dead?
What no one seems to be mentioning here is instant shifting that you get on a gearbox which you don't on a mech. I've got an alfine on my roady, and being able to drop three gears on a corner when you're coasting and have it instantly in gear as soon as you start pedalling is a HUGE difference.
Do the same thing on a standard mech and it'll clunk all per the place till it gets in gear. This alone could easily save seconds in a race. I've got a short cage saint on my transition and it does work pretty much flawlessly most of the time, but you really need to use a hub system just to be able to appreciate the difference, and how much better this would be for off road use. I'd love to look into getting one hooked up on my transition IF I ever have the money, but not sure how that would work with the bb as on my roadie it's an oval jobby.

Pinkbike Poll: Electronic Components
I don't really see the point. Electronic shocks seem pointless, yeah they can automatically adjust to the terrain, but that most likely wont be the right setup for everyone, as everyone has there own preference for rebound, plushness etc etc.
Having another 5 cables coming off the front end, and yet more shit you probably can't tweak and setup yourself and costs a fortune to fix is not something I'd be interested in.
Give me electronic uphill power and an electronic boost feature to fire all your shocks and launch you over logs and I just might consider it... Or the Audi e bike as that's sick.
For me the whole point of biking is its simple to keep running and doesn't need anything to power it.
I'd much rather see these companies putting the time and money into developing better hub gears like a proper alfine system that is long lasting, belt driven, lighter and affordable. As that's pretty much the last thing on bikes that's crappy old tech in need of modernisation. I used my alfine roady offload a few times and to be able to drop 3 gears when coasting on a corner then cranking up hill with no delay for shifting is bliss, we NEED that on MTBS way more than we need electronic shifters for deraileurs.

First Look: Troy Lee Designs A1 Helmet
Was eagerly waiting to see what they brought out as I love my d2 and TLD normally make some really cool stuff... but this? Looks like pretty much every other helmet out there, only even more bulbous and mushroom looking than most helmets... and with really gash graphics!!
Only appealing thing to me is the liner looks really comfy, and I like the back lip detailing. But otherwise really dull helmet, maybe some decent colourways/graphics will come out next year for you it, but will stick to my d2 and urge for now. Shame, I had proper high expectations for this.

Lance Armstrong Interview Part 2
Well this 'process' as he keeps putting it is about to get a whole lot worse. There will be many lawsuits against him now for libel, loss of earnings, to reclaim the costs of lawsuits that were won when he sued people, not to mention potential federal charges from the US Postal team as well is possible jail time for several counts of purjery... This is going to get very messy, very quickly!

Bike Thief Gets Owned
I wouldn't even bother calling, my mate got his motorbike nicked from the garage at his house and called the police, took them 2 MONTHS for them to show up at the house because they were so 'busy'. I really wish I was kidding but I sh*t you not! Yet last week of every month you get a bout 10 of them sitting on the side roads to the main high streets all day waiting for someone to speed so they can rack up their figures for the end of the month.
Piss take.

Thursday Randoms - Eurobike 2012
the da bomb SS frame looks pretty slick, but would be properly tempting if it wasn't for the sick colour, sh*te graphics and ugly as hell front mech mount. Think I'll stick to the Slayer SS when it comes out next year, unless this is dirt cheap and I can just re-spray it ;)
Would anyone really put a front mech on a SS frame? even if you were using it for trials, 9 speed rear would do the job without that nasty attachment sticking out like that.
