When the snow melts after a long winter there´s a lot of activity in "Skurva", everyone meets up after work/school to hang out and make the pumptrack rideable again. Getting all the leaves out of the way, rebuilding what was damaged over the winter, and most of all to build new lines. We have been working with this place for the last couple of years, and it has turned out to be one of the most fun riding spots ever. The variety of lines and options in a pump track like this makes sure that it never gets old.

Seeing what we have done this year with our beloved spot, and all the space we have left, and the knowledge that every year it will grow bigger and better, Skurva has a bright future for us to hang, and for the kids to get to know a brand new spot.

We can't wait till springtime when we can pick up the shovels again and start making new lines...

Why would they need helmets for that? Do you ask people jogging where their helmets are? Do you put on a helmet every time you walk down stairs? Do you wear a helmet in the shower?

Enough with the helmet comments already.

@mecabeat, just incase something happens like you fall.. you know the same reason you always wear a helmet..?

Thought the side by side packing of the dirt was pretty comical.

flag dooms101 (Nov 6, 2012 at 20:52)
@mecabeat You don't NEED helmets just like you don't NEED seat belts or NEED airbags; but don't you think its worth it to protect your head just in case you fall? Ya know, your head... the thing with your brain in it.

I wish people would think before they speak (or type). Spreading stupidity is never a good thing.

Im sure they know the consequences of not wearing a helmet. I agree that it is a good idea to always wear a helmet while on two wheels but to each their own, at least they are enjoying themselves.

That's what I'm saying. For some people cruising around on a mellow, loamy pump track is as natural as walking. People fall walking down stairs and slip in the shower and hit their heads, but you don't preach to the general public to wear helmets.

The NEED is up to you. I'm not anti-helmet. I'm just not into the preachy, mob mentality, auto response a cool video gets when riders have chosen to go hemetless.

I wish people would think a little bit more deeply before they speak (or type).

Facepalm Are you kidding? Do you ride pumptracks? It is one continuous mission to ride faster and faster. You hit the ground fast and unexpectedly. It's definitely more dangerous than everyday walking. Dead Horse

flag MaxBerkowitz (Nov 6, 2012 at 22:33)
Do pumptracks need helmets if you're just hanging out without pinning it?
It's your choice, and obviously more dangerous without protection, but some riders will chose to just chill without a helmet.
However, things can always go wrong, even with a helmet.
I was hanging out with some friends when we decided to do a pump track race last summer, just a fun time for laughs.
Anyways, as I started to drop back in to the mainn track for my last lap, I was hella pinned. I pre mannyed the pump into a tight berm, then at the exact moment I pumped down, my back tire slipped from the force of being pumped into a corner. It was kind of slick that day, and my street bmx tires didn't help. I slammed into the ground with my cheek, and even though I was wearing a crap bucket, I still got a concussion.
Don't just wear a helmet, wear a GOOD helmet.

i didnt used to wear helmets at my local pumptrack, pumptracks seem so much less dangerous because the features arent that big, but it only takes one small mistake and an unlucky fall to hurt yourself, i managed to fall off twice and gash my head pretty bad, i've had worse crashes riding downhill but the aftermath was so much worse at the pumptrack because there was nothing to protect my head

I hurt myself pretty bad walking down the street one day, should I wear a helmet everytime I leave the house ? No its personal choice and this isn't the place to push your ideals on others !

when you wear a helmet do you feel safer? (yes) would you be more careful if you weren't wearing a helmet? (yes) therefore you would learn to be more of a careful rider when you dont wear a helmet. with some stuff a helmet is 100% necassery e.g. downhill but with somthing like this id say its up to the rider whether they want to wear 1 or not, and with road cycling i dont really think its necessary.

flag scousestreet (Nov 10, 2012 at 12:54)
@Mecabeat, the reason their's this ''mob mentality'' and ''preaching'' about helmets is because this video is posted on the homepage of the biggest MTB website in the world, the same place that 12 and 13 year old kids come to get their fix of MTB goodness like I did when I was that age AND IT'S OPENLY PROMOTING RIDING WITHOUT A HELMET. It's important to be responsible when this video is being seen by thousands of young, impressionable kids who care more about what's cool than what's safe. The sport isn't going to last much longer if the next generation of MTBers all end up cabbaged because they think wearing a lid was for losers and leave half of their grey matter on the dirt when they crash.

TL;DR - Stop being a c*nt and accept that theirs a valid reason for people complaining about the lack of helmets.

Wearing a helmet is a personal choice. Wear, or not - if you are aware of the consequences of choice, nobody has the right to force you. Even 20-year-old with aspirations of becoming the "oberriderfuhrer".

Although the funny thing is that on this issue speak almost exclusively of representatives of the Anglo-Saxon culture.

The filming is pretty awesome too, I'm admitedly NOT experienced with all the filming/camera techniques these days, but it seemsed like it was some high dollar production with the cable cam like footage and what not. Loved the edit, and in general just really loved this video...

You may want to be more cautious about how you treat this. Are you knowledgable and versed in patent law? Do you know what you stand to lose, by infringing on an international patent? Are you prepared for the legal battle that may ensue, due to your inept ability to research the designs of "your system"?
LineCam Systems, holds 5 international patents pertaining to cable cam systems. I can tell by just the shadow of the system, that you may be infringing on one of their mechanical and design patents. I suggest that you treat this issue with the utmost importance, and to do your due diligence in making sure you have covered your bases.
This is not a threat, but a warning to be heeded. Thank You

You are only infringing if you sell your system. How are you liking the new ServoCity pan/tilt unit? We are currently developing our own P/T/R system. You did a great job on your dolly, looks awesome. But remember, just because it came from "your head", does not mean that someone else has not already developed and patented that specific design. I know it can be frustrating, but thats how product design goes. Keep up the hard work and doing a killer job with the edits! Link to our Facebook page is below. You can find pictures there also.

ya know, this kind of thing is just too bad. this guy builds something himself.. and, its copyright infringement. what is this world comming to?? or America for that matter. either way cheers for the riding and edit, this video should get video of the year.

hopefully this dude with the college degree doesnt get in the way of the fun you guys are able to have with that rad cable cam set-up, now. how would it be patent infringement if the design this guy made, is set up to use a differenet camera, than the one twatterstilskins company made?

flag nastynick42 (Nov 10, 2012 at 17:58)
Copyright has nothing to do with it. I am talking patent infringement. And he can build and use what ever he likes, as long as he is not selling his system. Its called business rockhopper15. Its what we do, and we're willing to fight to protect our intellectual properties. I'm sorry that you cannot understand the mature nature of this.
