Ride and shoot some of the best singletrack in North America

For the last couple of years, I've had the great pleasure of running a photo clinic with Yukon-based tour company Boréale Mountain Biking, where I try to pass on some of the knowledge, tips and tricks I've learned in my time as a mountain bike photographer. It's always a super fun course, so I jumped at the chance when they asked me to host it for a third year running. Dates are set to be in June 2013, when the golden evening light is at its absolute maximum (Golden Hour? More like Golden Four Hours). What's more, they're so excited about it they're even putting on an awesome deal for early bookings!

You might not know much about the Yukon; that's fair enough it's a fairly obscure destination for a mountain bike vacation, but that's about to change really, really soon. I first went up there in 2009 and instantly fell in love with the riding, landscape and people up there. I've been lucky enough to ride some of the best singletrack in the world, and yet I can honestly say the Yukon ranks way, way up there as some of the most fun, flowy trail you're ever likely to put rubber to.

Here's the very first showing of my new video that hopefully goes some way to explaining how amazing I find it out there:

Golden light isn't guaranteed, but summertime in the Yukon definitely makes it more likely

Here's what the guys at Boréale have to say about the clinic:

"For the third year in a row, we are teaming up with Dan Barham, professional mountain bike photographer (senior photographer for BIKE magazine and Singletrack UK), for an all inclusive mountain bike photography clinic in the Yukon, Canada. Dan will lead us through the world of digital mountain bike photography and share his secrets on how to capture and process that all too often elusive ‘worthy of a frame’ action shot.

Over the course of the 3 days, Dan will teach you how to get the best from your camera through sharing techniques for proper exposure, timing, composition and getting the ‘soul’ of biking across. He will also cover advanced techniques, such as off camera flash and work through the basics of image processing. Each day will be a mix of location scouting, shooting, processing and learning the ins and outs of the professional side of sport photography.

Small group size ensures that you will gain an immense amount of personalized instruction and will return home with a stronger skill set, ready to tackle the backyard trails with your camera in tow."

Singletrack so good you'll be itching to ride it yourself

Now here's the interesting bit: Until 30th November, they're offering a huge 20% DISCOUNT on all registrations. Places are super limited to keep the group size down, so if you're thinking about it, now's the time to pull the trigger. For more details, see here:

If you have any questions, feel free to give me or Boreale a shout, we'll be happy to help out. Hope to see you out there!
