Pinkbike Poll: What Are Your Must-Have Features On a New Mountain Bike?
@vinay: on smooth ground the smaller the wheel the greater the gain in acceleration from a ‘pump’, this is purely because of wheel mass and inertia, specifically the smaller the wheel the smaller the mass and thus easier to accelerate. As soon as the ground is not smooth however it’s a trade off between roughness of ground and mass, where a larger diameter wheel will over come (ignore) an obstruction that a smaller wheel may get stalled on.

Thought Experiment: How Good Could e-Bikes Get?
How about all this e-bike crap just F’s off. Yes batteries are useful and necessary but we don’t have to plunder the world to power pointless stuff.

Field Test Review: 2024 Nicolai Nucleon 16 Supre - The Silent Plow
@bigtim: you’re pretty damn close to me then, I run 475/480 reach on a typical 29er enduro stack height frame (620), 30mm of stackers and 50mm bars, I like my bikes agile/sporty. Ultimately wether I go shorter or longer on the bike I always run a Ben Cathro grip height of circa 1120. I get you with the bar roll, but I love riser bars as it enables good height without an overly ‘reachy’ bike, depends what ppl ride and preference but I don’t like being miles behind the front axle what with 63HA!

Field Test Review: 2024 Nicolai Nucleon 16 Supre - The Silent Plow
@GTscoob: I would say you potentially need a longer bike then, this will in turn require a higher stack/bar height, which on the whole would give you more room to manoeuvre/weight the bike. How tall are you and big Tim? I’m 6’ 4”.

Cotic Launch Jeht Gen2 Trail Bike
@waltworks: Yeh you definitely need to watch your frame and component pairing IME, if you have a stiff frame, compliant wheels like Mavic’s are great, like wise if you have a soft frame then carbon wheels are good.

Field Test Review: 2024 Nicolai Nucleon 16 Supre - The Silent Plow
Normal sized (Kazimer) people are running big stack heights these days, funny to think when everyone was rocking flat bars and no stack i couldnt understand it, i tested it and found 35-50mm riser bars and stackers always gave a far better ride, especially when running a longer bike. I like the rear mech position, just makes sense, bike looks sick AF, definitely a pin up!
