Niner SIR

$650 CAD
This will make a good winter project so you're ready for the summer. I've been riding this for several years and it works great and "Steel Is Real". This is a nice smooth bike. It has a few blemishes from several years of use but still has more miles remaining. The frame has an eccentric bottom bracket so you can set it up as a single speed but I was using it with a 1x11. I have a set of RF cranks for it as well with a 30T narrow wide ring if you're interested (free if you want them). I don't think I have a BB though. I probably have a few other parts like a stem or some other bits but I don't have any wheels. The rear axle is a 142x12, which is the older standard and the fork takes a 100x15 front hub which is the same standard from that year. The fork is a 120mm Manitou Minute Pro. It work great and was recently serviced by Evolution suspension here in Calgary. I don't think there's more than 5 hours since it was serviced last. There's also a Hope headset in the frame, which runs smooth and will never give any problems. It also comes with a carbon RaceFace NEXT seatpost. If you have any other questions, let me know.

@vikb: I gained an extra $1500 when I bought a Heckler instead of a Bronson. The VPP does perform better but as an above average rider I still can't push my Heckler past the limits. Plus, replacing one set of bearings is much easier than messing around with all those pivots, regardless of how free they are. Not sure what I'll do when my Heckler expires but l think it has a few more good years left in it.

I replaced my 2006 Heckler with a 2014 Heckler and now I see that this model has disappeared without any fanfare. SC made a big deal when it turned 18 and then killed it soon after. I would have liked a special edition model to celebrate the end of an era (or you could just bring it back). I know you are pushing the Bronson but some of us just don’t go any faster on the latest linkage suspension and a well designed single pivot is sufficient. Please make me a special edition 2020 model for when my current bike needs a refresh.

First Look: Turner Flux Carbon - Singletrack Predator
@chimp75: my 29er has the old 142x12 standard and the tire fits. My fat bike has a 135mm axle and somehow fits wide tires too. I'm not convinced that boost is needed for plus size tires.

@chimp75: I hadn't thought about cables on the downtube rubbing against the tailgate because the only bike I own with that routing is a road bike. I briefly reflected on how much of a pain it is to replace internally routed cables. When I worked in a shop I cursed the department store bikes that did that. I never thought I'd see it on anything other than some aero tri-geek bikes. Not something I'm interested in.

Why did we go to internal routed cables? Because externally routed cables were in "impact zones"...and impact from what? When was the last time an impact destroyed your cables? Maybe I don't crash enough to understand this?

Hope's HB.211 Enduro Racer Nears Production - Whistler Crankworx 2016
If I could replace more of my components with Hope, I would. But they don't make everything...until this came along. Not sure I can afford it though.

New Aluminum and Carbon Santa Cruz Models
I buy a new Heckler every 7 years whether I need one or not. I'm not due for my next one until 2020 but I might need to push that a few more years. There are other options out there but they are drying up. So long to the single pivot era. Soon everyone can join the pivot maintenance club...unless they join the hardtail club in defiance. They silently dropped the Heckler. Poor marketing...they could have celebrated the event and offered their die-hard fans an option to buy a limited edition. As some people said - they are dead to me.
