Mt. Bachelor jumped into the lift-accessed bike scene in 2013 and is helping change gravity riding in Bend, Oregon. Local ripper, Carson Storch is lucky enough to have Bachelor as his home mountain and bike park. Check out some of what Mt. Bachelor has to offer and how it's helped Carson prepare for his season.

I love Carson, he is so rad and deserving. But remember that Riders Like You essay contest Diamondback did last February? Well I was selected as a winner and promised a bike and a trip to Seattle and all that jazz, until they canceled last minute, and have been putting it off since and avoiding my attempts at contact, and they finally got a hold of me and basically told me to F off and get over it. I am looking into legal action now because they won't even just give me the promised bike. All my friends family and community were so stoked on me winning this, and because of a schedule error on their end, they took that away. I have all the E-mails to prove it too. Carson is awesome though! Stoked to even live in the same town as him! I hope the PB community can see how lame of them this is!

Damn... I'm sorry man. That really sucks.

Thanks, I honestly don't care that much, I understand that things happen and plans don't always work, and that's cool. But the way they handled the situation and wouldn't even give me a bike as compensation is kinda rude and ultra unprofessional in my eyes coming from a company as big as them.

Screw that you should care. That's complete horse shit. In other news, Bachelor is looking like so much fun.

Man, I was even thinking about getting a DB8, but screw Diamondback, that sucks.

I will say that I really appreciate the campaign that they are doing supporting average cyclists that do above average things for the sport, it really is cool and I wish more companies would follow suite. And they have since reached out to me to try and mend the situation.

Wait, they got back to you within 3 hours of posting this? They must understand the power Pinkbike has over their lives...

Keen to hear the outcome of your situation!

@CGalbreath Sorry to hear that went down like that, super unfortunate. I work with those guys frequently, and actually directed the ad's for the riders like you campaign, and I can assure you that it must have been a major mistake.

I appreciate the words, it really came down to confusion in communication, logistically putting something like this on is a huge undertaking and things go wrong. Also, your photos are always rad! @jasperwesselman

Was there a couple of weeks ago. Kids liked it. Super friendly staff. No lineups. But too sandy for my taste - sand so deep you don't need brakes kinda sand. Actually, almost all of Bend is like that.

Haha yeah but it can be fun once you learn to ride the brown pow like you are skiing!!

Bend Oregon sucks tell all your friends.

Is this the reverse psychology thing? Smile

I loved Bend, but I wouldn't personally plan another riding-specific holiday there.

Yep, me too. Bend is one of the best cities I've been to as far as just hanging out, live music, drinking beers and food, but the riding was average, and way less exciting than I was expecting. Probably would be a good family vacation place to ride with the wife and kids.

If you go here run the thickest casings you have got 5 flats in one weekend while running tubeless and it was the kind where you need to buy new tires. They also only seemed to have dh casings on their 2.5in minion tires high rollers where a very light casing maybe they were out cause it was race weekend. Great trails though the new pro trail looks gnarly.

I've been to the park about 5 times over the last 2 seasons it's been open and I'm convinced that the builders wouldn't know flow or basic design features if it sat on their faces. It's not big bike friendly due to the uphill sections and areas where a deal of pedaling is needed. It's quite feature bare, there's only one wooden structure, a basic small time drop, in 2 build seasons. The lead in crap filled sand for the first mile of trail is both dangerous feeling and completely unfun. I spend a lot of time building trail and I struggle to find what the builders were going for, and why they haven't done anything to attempt to improve it.

Beautiful views there but MAN...that dirt is rough. Hard to rally with the boys because you can't see anything but dust! Pavers unfortunately might be needed in a lot of areas.

Doesn't looks any worse than what we get here in SoCal. Looks dry, loose, and fast. Fun combination if you ask me.

I live and ride in SoCal and I don't mind the dust but Bachelor is on another level. Makes Mammoth feel tacky.

I was there this weekend and after a little rain the dirt was great! lots of traction... they even got snow in some trails so my saturday ride was a little cold but incredible.

Lava rock looks like a cheese grater if you crash, ouch.

Man I want one of those DB8s.

Bend is such an awesome MTB town!

Mt. Bachelor is a sweet park. Lava rock is pretty gnarly too.

I was just there for the Oregon Enduro stop. This terrain is very different in many aspects and takes a lot getting use to. It is dry, sandy/ashy, lava rock type of terrain. It take several runs to even feel comfortable with how your tires respond but once it clicks in you will fall in love with the flow and the length of the trails. The trail designers/builders did a great job with building these trails providing the environment that they have to build with.

During practice sessions, I overheard several racers say it was more of an intermediate level and I said to them then pick up your speed and make as hard as you want it because speed always changes the difficulty of any trial. They looked at me and said you're right and took off like bats out of hell.
