Lost in Place - Video

Sitting at your desk in your cubicle dreaming of far off places is perhaps one of our most shared past times. So often we wish we were somewhere else doing something else. How often do you get lost in your thoughts? Lost in your memories? Lost in place? Enter our world of beautiful forests, endless rock slabs, peaks and spires, gravel roads with 360 degree views and ridge lines that seem to go on forever.

Come with us. Breathe in. Breathe out. Let your mind take you from the mundane to the wild. You've been there before and you'll be there again soon. Journey to the place where the forest is your greenroom and the the sun illuminates the rivers, lakes and waves with just a touch of gold. Toss comfort into the wind and jump into the unknown... the unconventional... the real adventure. The vehicle? Your bike. Your companion is your shadow and whatever nature sends your way. Ride something new - something different. Because you can, and because it feels so good to push beyond limits.

Charge harder. And while the scenery passes by in a whirl of color, take time to soak in every sound, sight, and smell. Watch the canopy sway above you and the fog drift aimlessly through a maze of trunks. Watch the river wind through the woods, and note the air brushing against your skin. Can you feel it yet? Can you place yourself amongst the giant trees? The coastal mist? Can you feel the pavement or the dirt or the rock underneath your tires? Can you transcend into that place of pure magic?

  We were given access to some pretty amazing spots in BC to play on endless rock slabs.

We all love to let go and find ourselves away from everything and in the middle of nothing. It's why cycling brings us all together. Whether on the road throwing a smirk to those stuck in traffic, ripping perfect ribbons of brown singletrack, dancing with gravity and balance along a steep cliff ledge, or simply riding out to your favorite quiet spot, the bike is the universal glue that keeps us all moving forward. Find yourself. Get lost.

  The man, the myth the legend, Kerry Lee Werner Jr.

bigquotesThe Diamondback Haanjo Carbon Trail is the perfect weapon to go out and get lost. We threw Kerry Werner on the bike for the first time the first day of this shoot and didn't really know what to expect. Kerry's talent and the durability of this bike blew my mind. Kerry put this thing through the ringer like nothing I've ever seen. Smashing jumps, singletrack, and miles and miles of gravel and road riding and there was never an issue. No flats. No mechanicals. Nary a tool needed. Turns out gravel bikes can pretty much destroy anything you throw at them. It was actually fun to try to find things he couldn't ride. That was not an easy feat. He's a beast, and the bike is up for some seriously huge adventures. -Lacy Kemp, Director/Producer

 @BeardlessMarinRider: its enduroad brah!
  • 2 0
 @fercho25: I'm pretty sure Canyon claimed that for their sit up and "comfort" line of road bikes. Plus, it can't be enduroad because the bike was black and I didn't hear the rider being stoked at schralping the gnarwarl Smile
  • 1 0
 @BeardlessMarinRider: it was gt www.gtbicycles.com/usa_en/2016/bikes/pavement/enduroad

its not black but grey and there is an instagram video of Wyn Masters doing a wheelie or something is that gnarwal enoguh for you brah?!

 off road roadbiking is actually really fun
  • 4 0
 It's cool to be able to ride on the highway to a dirt road to ride the trails and back. Cross bikes are just like Plus sized road bikes.
  • 4 0
 @SteveDekker: also the trend in CX is now following mtn bike tech. Wide rims, thru axle hubs, disc brakes... makes a super capable off-roading road bike.
  • 2 0
 i really wanna get an xc bike and stick drop Ds on it jsut to see how it works
  • 7 0
 This dude is about to find out what a disc hernia feels like. Anybody old enough to have ridden fully rigid mountain bikes down rock gardens will know what i mean. Besides, nice scenery though.
  • 1 0
 Yeah, but Carbon is brutal, the steel bikes were more forgiving. Good ad for Diamondback though.
  • 16 0
 I think people need to give rigid (preferably SS for the full experience) a go and they'd be pleasantly surprised. The ride quality from decent contact points nowadays, control from wider bars, geometry, tyre quality, brake performance even 29er wheels goes a hell of a long way to making the modern rigid bike damn capable. Give it a solid try with an open mind and I'm sure you'll have more fun than ever Smile
  • 7 0
 Yeah yeah very nice! Now get off my trails and go back to your stupid tarmac, I can't spot how my new boost sh*t enhances my experience like never before with you goofing around!
Tsssss, Roadies!!!

 one of my favorite edits of all time. Transitions hardtail video gives the same vibe
  • 5 0
 Sure nice video, but really; just use a 29er hardtail MOUNTAIN BIKE for pete-sake and keep your back from looking like a turtle shell !!!
  • 2 0
 F****CK.... that's inspirational... especially when you've been sitting @ the desk since 7:00 in the morning like today and the sun is shining with nary a cloud in the sky Frown

Moreover - the guy IS a beast.... he's riding technical stuff that I wouldn't dare attempt without at least some minimal protection.
Takes balls, kudos to that....!

 Amazing video. The trail looks awesome too. But stupid question (I say stupid cos I really don't know). Isn't a great risk riding with those wheels on that terrain? I mean, do those wheels resist that kind of terrain? I didn't think so. I though it would explode on the first rock garden it sees.
  • 1 0
 Actually we didn't have a single issues with the tires on any of the terrain. They're not road tires. They're Schwalbe G One snakeskin knobbies and they're 40c wide, so they're decently burly.
  • 1 0
 @lacykemp: great. Impressive!
  • 4 0
 So I could have a road bike that doesn't flat when I jump curbs?
  • 4 0
 Wow !! Yeah bikes Smile
  • 2 0

 Nice video, but that bike and rider, dont belong there.
  • 1 0
 Such trail I will only choose a XC full-suspension bike only... Mom will worry about my knees so much if I ride a CX...
  • 1 0
 Wow, thank god for disk brakes! Amazing video @lacykemp!

 You`d be surprised how much a CX bike can handle!
  • 22 4
 You'd also be surprised how much they can't
  • 3 1
 @kymtb0420: For not having suspension and 700C tires they sure can
  • 7 2
 @trevor-attridge: and only if you're less than 120lbs and don't hit a root Wink

or 50 kilos and 8 stones for all the rest of the world...
  • 2 0
 Its not the bike I'm worried about.
  • 3 1
 @kymtb0420 Or you can learn how to ride smooth and this thing called lowering air pressure
  • 1 1
 @trevor-attridge: Really--how low of air pressure can you go on a tire barely an inch tall?...haha. You'd pop the tires taking it off your bike rack Wink
  • 2 0
 @kymtb0420: Dude I run them at 27,30 and rarely flat. You clearly have never ridden one.
  • 1 1
 @trevor-attridge: You're clearly taking this argument too seriously.....chill out little guy. Also key phrase in your reply "Dude I run them at 27,30 and RARELY flat"...meaning you probably flat more than your willing to admit.

 Kerry = Krazy
  • 2 1
 I don't get it...
  • 1 1
 So what happens when not being able to ride due to injury is what ails me?
  • 1 0
 What?
  • 1 0
 @lacykemp: "This is not a mountain bike edit but it is going to make you want to get out and ride, and escape whatever it is that ails you."

- under the articles title on homepage
