Dunbar Cycles Grand Opening

For 86 years, Dunbar Cycles has been your friendly neighbourhood bike shop, so when condo development in our area forced us out of our building, we were devastated. We needed to find a new location. Months passed, several deals fell through, and we started to get discouraged. Time was running out.


One day, purely by chance, we happened on an old building that looked like it might work. It had sat vacant for at least 18 months, and was in dire need of repair. There were leaks in the roof, graffiti on the walls, broken windows and too many bathrooms, but we knew we could make it work.


Dozens of cans of paint, several pallets of flooring, stacks of lumber and several trips to the dump later, we brought our vision to life. Our new place is everything we had ever dreamed our little shop could be. Where before we were restricted by our size and location, we are now able offer the shopping experience we have always wanted to. The new store is bigger and better in every way, almost three times the size with a view of the mountains, right in the centre of the city. All that AND free parking!


Come by this weekend and check out our Grand Re-opening! We will have a ton of athletes in attendance, hanging out and signing autographs. World Cup Champ Stevie Smith will be on hand, taking on challengers for prizes as he races on PS3 game MX vs. ATV. Team Dunbar rider Dean Tennant (Pinkbike's Most-Viewed Video of 2013), Canadian Junior DH Champ Magnus Manson and the rest of the Dunbar team will be making their presence felt. Enduro World Series racers Josh Carlson and North American Enduro Champ Chris Johnson will round out the pack.

The Peak radio station will be broadcasting live on Saturday, cooking up some hotdogs and some fresh tunes.
