The POC ESC Atlantic DH cup visited Blue Mountain in the Pocono Mountains for the Pennsylvania DH State Championships this past weekend. This would mark the final Atlantic DH Cup race before the series' finale in a few week's time. The event would also be the first POC ESC Downhill race at Blue Mountain and the anticipation of a new track at a new race venue had the racers ready to rumble.

Practice
And a rumble it would be! David Kahn rumbles through the rocks at Blue Mountain. David has 5 Atlantic DH Cup victories this season and leads the points for the series.

Practice
Columbian Sebastian Villa and Michael Maldonado didn't let a little water stop them from turning endless laps all day in practice. They would take 2nd and 4th for their efforts.

Race run
Nicholson Titus won his class by a wide margin. In fact, his sub 3 minute time on the track would be one of the overall fastest on the day.

Race run
Danylo Crawford would end up a strong third on the day...

...while Dan's brother Dmytro Crawford would finish in fifth.

Race run
Sam Kahn, another fast rider and racing for Danny's Cycles, would maintain his second place standing in the series right behind Nicholson Titus.

Race run
Michael Maldonado giving it his all on his new Intense 951. Michael was the 2014 POC ESC Enduro Cup 12 and under Champion.

We wanted to give the groms a bit of exposure and wanted to remind everyone what the Eastern States Cup is all about. Yes, we have a great pro fields and our experts are the best in the USA, but we are all about the ESC community and the kids is where it all starts. Thank you to the parents for being so supportive to their kids passions! There is a huge smile under that helmet and that puts a huge smile on our faces!

Practice

Practice on this rocky track was a must as rocks like this were scattered throughout the upper sections. It was cold and wet on Saturday but great weather would be on tap for race day. We would name this racer but apparently he forgot it's an ESC rule to have the number plate on the bike at all times!

After a wet and wild day on the track, racers were thrilled to see the sun come out and just in time to enjoy a few sodas. Line choice was key in the rock sections; inside left seemed to work in most places.

Racers were greeted with sunny skies and a mint track come Sunday morning.

Race run

Joshua Rogers had no trouble with the speed or the rocks and roots motoring to a strong win in the Cat1 <18 field. It was his third Atlantic DH Cup victory and puts him in a commanding lead going into the finals October 12th at Plattekill Mountain, NY.

A big "HELL YEAH!" goes out to all the ladies that raced this weekend. The girls did great on a really rough track. It's always great to see a full podium!

Nice to see my lowly, mid-atlantic spot mentioned.

Did they really give a pint glass as a prize for 14&U? I can't put my finger on it, but something about that doesn't seem right.

I mean, its gotta happen sooner or later if they want to be considered true mountain bikers.

"Groms", not "Grom's". There's a difference between plural and possessive.

Scrolled down to say this. Jesus, guys. Get your shit together. It's like a bunch of texting 7th grade girls have taken the site over.

...and neither is it a contraction.

Am I alone in finding this a highly uneventful track? No reason to even ride DH bikes..

I've got nothing negative to say about the riders, don't get me wrong. But watching this does not get me stoked to go DH, that's for sure.

For the record the winner of 14U is Titus Nicholson, not Nicholson Titus. Kids a local shredder.

why did you get neg propped? I came to say the same thing

Forget the fact that the children in the sport get their props, just rag on the grammer...

errors like that often appear in conspicuous places...
  • 2 3
I wouldn't call a front page article headline "conspicuous".
  • 2 3
Wait, yes I would. Sorry I was thinking "inconspicuous". Silly brain...
