Contrasting the previous weekend's hot and dusty pre-season race, round 1 of the South African National series started off with plenty of rain. This turned the track into a bit of a slip 'n slide, leading to a number of crashes, specially during practice on Saturday. Luckily none of them lead to any serious injuries. Sunday morning brought even more rain and some thick fog, dramatically limiting visibility at the top of the track. As the race progressed though, the fog lifted and the surface became nice and tacky, leading to much quicker race times.

Clouds rolling in to bring some more rain for race day
Though the weekend saw a number of spills, the only serious injury was Luke le Roux, who broke his wrist and ended up having to get surgery. Luckily the medics were on hand and quickly attended to him. Get well soon dude!
