Ask Pinkbike: How Much is my Bike Worth, Can my Wheel be Saved and What Bike to Ride at Forest of Dean
Your absolutely right. Wheel size isn't the only standard we have been seeing in recent times. Weight, a heavier "bombproof" bike I.e. Santa Cruz super 8, have all been faded out and made "obsolete" by the marketing divs, in favor of lighter, weaker variants. I think the 26" bombproof framesets will hugely appreciate in value once everyone realizes they are the perfect donor frames for high end ebikes....

And the older heavier dh frames make great donor frames for dream ebike builds using top notch components....

If by performance you mean weight, otherwise these are better. 90% of us who have nice bikes nowadays don't race. If you want a durable bike that will last and make your big investment $$$ worth it you need a more durable build. This is why the older heavier bikes are better in that regard, and also world champion racers I.e. cove peeler dh is a good example, because not much has happened in the last ten years in terms of innovation.. That means the older bikes are still as good if not better than the new, lower warranty, lighter weight, prone to brake race frames that all look so generic on top of it too.

look at that part spec chill, i9 wheelset hope 6ti,s and super monsters, those parts alone cost more than his asking price, and since its 150mm rear end can easily be converted to run boost, i wouldnt classify it as outdated
