Review: Industry Nine's New Hydra Hubs Have 690 Points of Engagement
At this point, what stops company to use one way bearing instead of a pawl system? Is it weight? Friction in those is very low, it's cheap and readily available, barely no engagement angle (probably on the sub degree like the hydra), evenly distribute the load... Not complaining, just asking the why?

Downhill's Decision Makers on the Future of World Cup Racing
We have to remember something, redbull taking over the sport is because they can generate add revenu. They want tue maximun amount of people watching with the minimum cost to maximum add impact. Shorter race, sponsored top atlete, less people, nice looking backdrop, polite presebtator so most people are not offended. I was much more stoke watching DH under freecaster back than compared to today. Yes we see more, but the tracks are shorter, they are more mellow, the order this year fuck it up, and we can clearly see the trend : this is no longer a sport, it is a product. Anyway, i don't watch it anymore but good for other people

@BenoNZ: well, UCI are the boss and have the final word/rule. Peer presure or not, it IS the UCI decision and they are liable for it.

Results: Lošinj DH World Cup 2018
@eblackwell: Fair race : equal chances for everyone entering the race. Having previous seasons rider having particular status is everything but fair, it's 100% to please big sponsors. I'm not even ok with previous years ''top 20 qualifies even if they sucked in qualy''. Yes, it sucks if one of our favorites crahes in qualy and don't make the finals, but a crash is skilled based. As for mechanicals, it's part of the game and many top rider won't use procore and other flat protection to save weight. It is a choice with big concequence. Tougher equipment comes with weight penalty and they need to make the proper choice for Qualification. The only thing I'm ok with is that previous top X (i think it is the top 80 or 50?) in world cup don't need to go thru local event to get UCI point to enter a world cup. They are automaticaly accepted and can proceed to qualy. but fair race is never going to happens in big sponsored event. Pressure from the sponsored to see their top rider in finals no mather what will continue How to solve the top 20 starting order is actually very simple when considering qualification as important. - Qualification results come first. - Each protected rider who qualify in top 20 keep its position. - If their is not enough place for protected rider in top 20 base on how many of them sucked in qualy, bump the 20th rider down to make place, than bump the 19th one and so on, until every protected rider fits in the top 20. If a protected rider is 20, bump unprotectrider who qualify better to make place. Being in the top 10 or top 5 or last man down has a HUGE psychological effect (good or bad depending on how atlhetes manage their stress) and riders must be tested properly in that regards.

Bike Check: Brook Macdonald's Mondraker Summum - Lošinj DH World Cup 2018
Wait, why would you do a bike check on Brook's bike? I mean, he started like what, 11th on the grid? He is not even a top ten ultraprotected, always last to go dude... Oh wait, he was first in time check AND first in qualy? UCI must have F****D something up like crazy. He deserved to be the last man on the hill. UCI are destroying everything good about DHI. I'm honestly more skoted with EWS enduro series than UCI dhi.... By the way, insane bike and well done for the quali. Sucks that you crashed in the race
