Liv Vancouver is pleased to announce the store’s initial schedule of events, including a Grand Opening celebration on February 17 and a variety of tech clinics, group rides and cycling adventures aimed at women riders.

“I’m so happy with the new store,” said Anne-Marie Gagnon, owner of Liv Vancouver – the first Liv brand store in North America. “It turned out even better than I imagined and I’m looking forward to making it a hub for women’s cycling in Vancouver.”

Gagnon is inviting everyone to stop by on Friday, February 17, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., to help celebrate the store’s official Grand Opening. As part of the festivities, visitors will receive 10% off accessories and be treated to giveaways, coffee and baked goods.

In addition to the opening, Liv Vancouver has already filled its calendar with a series of hands-on bicycle repair and maintenance clinics, weekly group road rides, and even an off-road Sea to Sky Trail adventure from Squamish to Whistler and back. Registration is open for all of these events.

“This is only the beginning,” promised Gagnon, who plans to offer a lot more cycling adventures, rides, clinics, camps, and ways for women to learn about the sport she’s so passionate about.

As Liv Vancouver continues to generate buzz, Gagnon recently received the news that Liv Cycling Founder and Giant Bicycles Chairperson Bonnie Tu will make a rare trip from Taiwan to get a closer look at the store. While she’s in town, Tu will join Liv Vancouver’s Sunday group ride on March 19. The weekly fitness rides kick off on Sunday, February 19.

“It will be an honour to welcome Bonnie to the store,” said Gagnon. “She’s a powerful role model for all women.”

The highly anticipated women’s focused bicycle boutique located in Vancouver’s hip West 4th shopping district, marked its soft opening last month and has already received lots of interest from women riders of all levels, ages, and interests from across the region.

Featuring a complete selection Liv’s 2017 line of bikes and gear for all types of riders, the shop’s other highlights include an espresso maker, a comfy area to sit and enjoy a cappuccino while browsing Liv’s latest catalogue, a beautiful mountain-scape wall mural, and friendly knowledgeable staff.

Liv Vancouver is excited to announce the first store of its kind in Canada. A bicycle boutique featuring Liv brand bikes, as well as accessories, clothing and a customer experience tailored to the female rider, Liv Vancouver aims to open its doors this Thursday at noon, with an official Grand Opening scheduled for February 17.

For store owner and avid cyclist Anne-Marie Gagnon, Liv Vancouver is the opportunity of a lifetime. “It's my dream shop,” she said. “Clean, organized, classy, welcoming, with friendly, knowledgeable staff and good coffee… it’s everything I would want from a bike shop as a customer.”

Gagnon recognizes the growing women’s market in bicycles and she is eager to create a bicycle retail experience that meets the needs of women like her – active women seeking high end products that offer quality, performance, style and comfort.

“I want this store to be as high end and professional as the best bike store you may know, but focusing on women's needs,” she said, adding that the store will offer the largest selection of women's bikes of all types, applications and sizes in the city. In addition to Liv brand bikes, clothing and accessories, the store will stock quality women’s products, such as helmets, shoes, saddles and eyewear, from complementary brands.

The vision for the shop does not end at gearing up customers with the best equipment. Gagnon also hopes her retail location will become a hub for women’s cycling – a comfortable place where female cyclists can gather to share their two-wheeled experiences, talk and learn about bikes over coffee, as well as ride together. She intends to offer a variety of clinics, rides and events as part of her effort to grow the sport among women. She has already purchased a high end espresso maker to get things rolling, as she appreciates the inextricable link between coffee and cycling culture.

“Cycling has brought me so much joy and so many adventures over the years,” said Gagnon, who just returned from a month-long bike packing trip through New Zealand. “I would like to help other women create their own memorable experiences with bikes. I want to share the freedom a bicycle can bring.”

Gagnon is incredibly experienced in the industry, growing up as the daughter of a sports store owner in Quebec, and later taking over from her father. After selling the family business to her brother, she opened her first bike store in Montreal – Giant Bicycle’s first concept store in Canada and a success from the start. When Giant Canada offered her the chance to take over its Vancouver location in 2013, she jumped at the chance, selling the Montreal store and moving across the country. With her expertise, Giant Vancouver quickly became a success. The new Liv Vancouver store is located right next to Giant Vancouver in the city’s popular West 4th shopping district.

Gagnon has opened an online survey to give her potential clients a voice in how the store will take shape and allow them to weigh in on the types of products and services that they would like to see offered. Respondents are eligible for an in-store discount. Find the survey here.

Applications from friendly and knowledgeable bike enthusiasts with previous retail experience are still being accepted to fill sales and customer service positions. Visit www.livcyclingvancouver.com for details.

I'm a bit skeptical of the need for the Liv brand for obvious reasons, but there's good reason for women to want a female focused cycling shop. There's a non-brand affiliated one near Commercial, and some of my female friends really feel like they get a better customer experience there compared to the slightly more machismo oozing typical bike shop.

I thought it was kind of odd that it would be a biking store EXCLUSIVELY for females until I saw that it's right next to the regular Giant store. I think it makes a ton of sense this way, you still have the easy option of the regular store, but you also have in this expansion an opportunity to coalesce some female involvement in the sport. Whether women-specific bikes are very useful or not in contrast to their unisex counterparts, I think this is a good option to be available for those women who are looking for a shopping experience tailored to their gender, as well a boon to the female-specific biking community in the area.
