Video: GNAR Bike Park - Can a Bike Park be Crowdfunded?

Recently, I've seen camera drone's become successfully funded via this method. I've seen it happen to projects involving humanities, arts and science. It soon became apparent that crowdfunding was the simple process of telling a group or crowd of people "Hey guys! I want to do something!" and then hoping you can encounter enough people who want you to do it too. So, I found myself asking,"Could a mountain bike facility be crowdfunded?."

That might seem an unusual question for somebody to ask themselves? However, over the course of the past two years, I've dealt with a couple of life questions that are far more 'out there' than that. For example:

1) Is it ok to feel grateful for the brilliant network of Trail Centres that are across the UK. But, at the same time, wish they had a bit more...erm.......gnar?
2) Is it ok to actually listen to and then act upon a thought of, "You can either moan about it Sunshine or get off your ass and do something about it?"
3) Is it ok to leave a secure job, commit to paying rent on 46 acres of woodland for the next 20yrs and tell your Wife "Darling, I've spent our life savings on the legal fees for my woodland. The good news is, I didn't spend all of it on just that, I bought a chainsaw and an mini excavator too!"


Pinkbike is without doubt one of my favourite sites on the internet and I feel that coming onto here and asking for money from you guys would be crass and frankly, akin to taking a dump on my own doorstep. So I can honestly tell you that it was a difficult decision to post this blog. However, as you guys are the biggest community of Mountain Bikers in the World,
I would like to ask you to consider sharing this link with like minded people, if you would?

Essentially, I'm just a guy who wants to build a place where my daughters can have their first experience of trails whilst in the same venue, there were tracks to challenge even the most skilled riders. I'd like there to be every progression of trail and feature in-between that way, riders can visit GNAR, enjoy their day and leave feeling that they're a better rider for it.
