@shreds You can't just go check on injured people at events like that. There's actually rules where you're not allowed to go x amount of feet near them. You have to be either EMT certified, or a paramedic, it's for legal purposes.
The dude standing there just wants to make sure that he can take his bike from him and ride the rest of the way down. Just like in WC DH, its becoming the norm now.
His lucky his wheel hit the ground, if he rotated any more he would have been face first. That wheel hiring first defiantly helped lessen the impact and even than it was still crazy heavy.

Yes sewer-rat, he is clearly trying to be cool by not wearing a neck brace. This guy was wearing a full face for bmx contests I don't think he is worried about his image.
If you are doing tricks you need full range to view the landing before you come around to judge your rotation. A neck brace would drastically restrict their ability to spot landings.
Although I'd rather learn to deal with that than break my neck.
