I am soooo happy Value is now being added to this. $10k bikes are just for such a few. I honestly wish Pinkbike would get the middle of the road bikes non dentist can afford and test them. A Sworks will always feel good why waste time testing.

This is nothing more then a sign of good old fashions retail therapy. This is a classic example of people being at home with nothing to do and not spending $40 a bucks a day on food and starbucks at or before work, instead just wanting to go shopping in a mall or retail store. This is like manufactures of masks thinking of the growth in the future and how many people will want them in 2 to 3 years if this trend continues. Do not get too excited as a investor or a LBS or website. With very few options to spend money on many people invested in getting out of the house for the first time ( with free government money by the way in the US) . I am willing to bet less than 10% of the growth you see will continue into Q1 of next year. This is a artificial bump based on time (pandemic with everything else closed) and Circumstance (free couple of grand in his pocket and dad bod wanting to go ride around with his kids or just get out the house) instead of people getting into the sport. It was one of a few of the allowed to do outside activities. Even Amazons stock went up 24% (in the billions of dollars mind you) with people not being able to go out shopping, instead it was just done online. Spin it however you want for the narrative you need to push, but bike sales spikes in a pandemic are nothing more then people that were careless with money before and giving it to bars and restaurants, clothing places, cars, toys, ( all of which have been closed except for service and internet sales) before are now giving it temporally to a " allowed" outdoor activity. If it continues as things open up call me out for being wrong, but I would bet the money to feed my kids it wont.

@mtbgeartech: did you watch the video? She brought up that she wanted to hear rap instead of metal...... Maybe pay attention a touch to what people are saying.

Guess we are just more lucky in Colorado than others. I know some females of color that are rippers and they are included in everything, one is even heavy into organizing event and is a leader in the community . Move to Colorado, they even play rap music at races out here.

@spankthewan: well they could at least start by filling the orders to the LBS that opted to carry their bikes.... Which they did not after being months late on the release of the the 29er. Then sending just 2 of the same size bikes to the LBS to sit on the shelf and nobody can order a different size to fill their floor space. Much less get a high end LBS to even be able to give their customers a time frame on when they were shipping bikes to them. All the time while these customers are looking at a wall of fancy bikes on front of them. You can start there....... then work your way to nit picking old geo and yeti rip off suspension.

Sad part is that we are going much fast due to bike technology advances, but our safety gear and focus fashion is keeping us in 1992 level of protection. I often beat my Moto buddies down a local trail. But they are geared out from head to toe to go 30 mph plus in between trees on dirt, but there is my dumb ass doing in a half shell and a pair of knee pads because it is cool. One day I hope safety is considered cool.
