 Woo! Gee! Smile

Get on you absolute legend! Smile

Glad to see Peaty up there, and of course, Matti too. Wink

Can't wait to see the rest, Ian! Smile
  • 28 13
I thought he was a legend till today as well..... but he's a arrogant twat to try to talk to. I was car parking and he was pretty miserable. As Peaty, Fairclough, Beaumont, Matti were all friendly, I don't see why he wasn't. So sorry Gee, but I've lost all respect in you.
  • 3 2
 Awh man, really? Frown

He was one of my favorite riders, too.

Ahh well, I still think he's a cracking rider, but there are certainly better riding attitudes out there. Smile

good to see peaty back on form again
  • 10 5
Maybe he had winning the race on his mind. Nice guy's finish last, this proves it. I still like gee, he's got a good sense of humour and does the job he needs to do. Your feelings in one slight moment in time don't get him results and sign his paychecks.
  • 28 0
Just back and Dan gets a top ten, well done
  • 7 1
It was a few years ago, but i spent a day riding with Gee and Dan, and they were both really nice guys. No-one can be on top form all the time, so don't give up on him just because of one moment!
^ And yeah, I'm not at all surprised he won when he lives just round the corner! Still, well done Gee.
  • 5 1
Maybe he didn't want to be spoken to? I know I wouldn't if i was trying to win a biggish race.
  • 1 0
tbh when I met Gee he had plenty of time too speak to me even though it was at a bar! It was better when he remembered my name the day after so seems like an alright chap may have just had been knackered
  • 5 0
'Nice guy's finish last, this proves it.' you don't know steve peat.. gee is a great guy but on race weekends he turns into someone else, i'm sure everyone else would too when racing at the highest level
  • 2 1
i met gee at rampage, we chattted and he was super chill! maybe a tad full of himself though..
i even got a pic with him!

^ Well by the sounds of it anyone would be a tad cocky if kids were coming up asking for pictures... especially while slaying that well at Rampage.

 In english?

 Google Translate came up with:

"Close your mouth iesubach the bag! Ramsar land a guy not to be like yours when Sharad with people there wanted to beat! and just to show the people who came to them with neisdi Sharad loss!"

Which makes no sense either.

Why would you care if he's arrogant or mr nice guy? It's not like you're gonna spend the rest of your life with him. Just make sure your Mom and Your boss are cool...

Good Lord Man! My grand boy is with that Gee man, he is such an unpleasant individual that is. Like the welsh used to be indeed. Poor Alasdair, looking up to such a filth munger on this mini video computer. Wish he could play cricket, or tennis like his uncle Campbell. Maybe sailing, golf like Farquoir. At least he could hang out with that good Steve Peaterson man, he's such a decent gentleman... he thrown his carbon bike onto the pavement, and not a blink of an eye, helped me cross the street and then carried the shopping bag of mine, all the way to my house behind the Crawford Hill. Such a well man. - Shut up grandma! Gee's the maaaan!!!

@\jayBurn,he has no sense of humaor at all, well he didn't this weekend anyway. I was car parking, and pretended I didn't recocnise him, and not let him into the pits, and he just looked at me with a blank expression. Peaty on the ther hand took some swearing abuse from me at nant g (befor i saw it was him) and just giggled and gave me a can of monster. Sure Gee kiled it, but sharing a phew words with some kids at the races isn't gonna chane it. Also, many ex pro's make money out of master casses etc, and I can say I wouldn't want a master class off someone who spoke like that to me, so i recon he could make himself a favour.
@GiantFaith. Da i weld bach o cymraeg ar y wefan ma tydi? piti am y cyfieithiad Wink A nath Peaty golli? Beaumont enillodd yn Nant chydig o wsnosau nol.  so actually you were the guy being a dick, and he just decided to be a dick back (probably what you deserved)

good oner

 cheer up eh
  • 2 1
iesubach, totally agree with you my mates were always saying that but i didn't believe them until i tried to talk to him at fort william bds last year, safe to say he's no longer my favourite rider and i won't be rushing out to support him
  • 1 0
Really? What did he say? :'(
  • 2 1
Seems like some of you have a broken heart... Why do U guys care at all? Leave the boy be who he is, not everyone must be a PR star. I bet he couldn't care less if you like him or not.
  • 3 0
Every pro athlete has supporters. If you can find me one who doesn't, and one who furthermore doesn't care what they think... Hell.

Of course they care if we like them. Do you think he'd do as good if everyone boo'd him, or jeered at him when he went down instead of cheering him on?

No, he wouldn't.
  • 2 0
Of course they care if fans like them. If no one wanted to watch him race, he wouldn't make any money doing this.
  • 1 0
of course he would.. because he's the fastest
  • 1 0
Ye, but if the fans don't like him, Commencal will have no point in sponsoring him, because no one would want to buy their bikes, so they'd fire him, then he'd have no bike, then would he still win?
  • 1 0
Well i don't think Commencal cares for your opinion as long as Gee is in the first 10. People will admire him anyways. It's forumers and their daddys who buy most of the stuff, not people who go to racrs and definitely not those who race. Downhill provides a marginal profit comparing to Xc and AM segment where most bikes are sold. And as long as Gee is on the very top he can even pee on someone, and commencal or more accurately oakley redbull and animal will sponsor him gladly. Oh wait he did piss on minnars bike... If you think you matter at all as a fan you are just fooling urself
  • 1 0
The best example is football - you matter as a fan to big companies yes... if you buy beer, watch it on TV with all the commercials before and after the match and spend money on the bookies. That's how football rolls. Players are nice on public events and in interviews, that's it. When their headcases are told 50 000 times before the show: be nice and positive, don't get angry, or you're not getting that Porsche next week. try to talk to them on parking lot on the way to the training... It is only his own interest to be mr nice guy.

But in greater scheme nobody gives a sh*t what fans think about an idol. You are to play the game and buy the stuff he rides and wears. He is a model, walking showroom, not PR machine.
  • 2 0
Gee is a great guy, as are all the top guys. It's a race weekend with a lot of money at stake. The winner gets Ă‚ÂŁ1000, and second gets Ă‚ÂŁ300. That's a big gap, and when your head isn't in the game you won't be on top of your game.

Gee earns his money from racing his bike, not from talking to fans. His main priority at a race is to win. So why is it so bad that he didn't have a laugh and a joke with you if he wanted to concentrate on adding Ă‚ÂŁ1k to his bank balance. Gee is one of those guys who after a race, or on the practice day will always have a picture taken, of have a chit chat, but when winning and prizes are at stake the racing gets priority.
  • 1 0
+1 to what Tim just said.
  • 1 0
So maybe he won, but I've now been put off Commencal, animal and red bull, because I no longer say 'I want Gee's bike, clothes etc. Sure a grand is a lot, but thats not a living. A living is what he'll get by writting for magazines and coaching. His reputation counts when it comes to that, and sure he has to be focused on racing, but talking for 15 seconds with a fan isn't going to slow you down. I see no point in it.
  • 1 0
you're put off his bike sponsor, red bull and animal because YOU decided to (try) be funny and ignore him and pretend you don't know him and didn't let him park??

are you serious lol
  • 1 0
he gave me and my mate proper evils when we walked past the animal/commencal pits on the sunday morning. I smiled at him and he still carried on giving us the daggers!
Anyway, nevermind.
  • 2 0
I know what you mean. I mean in all the Atherton Project videos he comes across as a right asshole. Oh wait, no, he doesn't.
  • 1 0
That's why I figured he was a really nice guy. I still hope he is, even with many people saying he's not.
  • 10 0
All good except Matti came 4th and Fairclough was 3rd
  • 2 1
 What's the problem with that?
  • 3 0
 it said matti was 3rd
  • 4 1
no way did gee win at moelfre who'd of thought that on a track he helped build and lives round the corner from, well done gee roll it on into south africa
  • 1 1
Pretty sure the track he helped build there isnt even used anymore. Or only parts of it are used as i'm sure there are loads of new sections there now.
  • 1 0
 That Joss Stone's multitalented eh!

PS, who ever thought Gee was going to be good to talk to? He was fine with me at the nationals but even on video when they can reshoot everything 20 times he still comes across like a total spacker. I think he's doing his best... He's the looks of the family Wink

  • 3 0
 Nice one Adam Brayton too!
  • 1 0
 yehh, very pleased for adam.
  • 1 0

The course was extended at the top to differ from student race there last month. We also included the 4x section as well therefore adding over 20seconds at least to racing..

awesome results, good to see Gee wearing a Leatt brace as well...
  • 1 1
Glad to see hes rocking the neck brace, obviously the training in Queenstown came in handy!!
  • 1 0
 what happened to Hill?? :s
  • 1 0
 Hill wasn't racing this weekend.
  • 1 0
Shame Peaty just missed coming first!
  • 1 0
Why do women get so much less?
  • 1 0
I guess it's because there's less competing in their category. 43 men competed in the Elite Men category at Moelfre whereas only 13 women were in the Elite Women category. Less competition means less reward for winning.
  • 2 0
 well done Dan!!!
  • 1 0
Wicked updates, I keep updating now :o)

  • 1 0
yer but itll be a different track, if you see the bucs times from a few weeks ago ppl where going faster than that, it all becuase they put different lines in and extend the track in places from race to race
  • 1 0
I wish we could have watched the bds pal but the hamsterley idea was a clear winner in my eyes!
