Wyper won best whip, and I left before best trick but I heard Casey won that. Brandon did a cork 7 in his run and it was sick, I don't think he stuck around for best trick, but again I wasn't there so I could be wrong...
The event ran late and a lot of the riders left to catch the last ferry back to the mainland...
for all those thick people that cant ride the first trick was not a corked seven it was a 360 backflip .... if in doubt watch stehen murray its a 360 flip you dount go upside down on a corked seven
I have to say, despite the weather and the course issues it caused, this year was wicked, the crowd was twice last yeras, and all the organizers should be proud. If I have anything negative to say, it's that Tippie sucks, you hear it throughout the crowd, he's obnoxious and annoying and couldn't spot the difference between an x-up and a bar spin today. Surely there is a better announcer out there, it's just not the right approach for that venue and crowd the event is trying to appeal to. Fill the voids with music, not a cackling hyena. But I digress...
Hey I am only relaying my own opinion and the sentiment I felt and often heard uttered in the crowd. The thing is that an event like this, downtown, sponsored by a Condo development, is trying (and needing) to appeal to a completely different type of clientelle in addition to you or I, and thus in my opinion requires a modified or maybe watered down approach. Look at the biggest shows out there, there are very specific reasons why the annoucing at the X games is a little bit more mellow and scripted.
ok so yes, it is your opinion... an odd opinion but an opinion none the less. Almost all bikers on pb love tippie (just look at the neg props you got). he is the legend and he always will be. IMO. he creates a positive attitude in every event and people love him.
A lot more thought goes on in his announcing that people know; he calls out corporate sponsors every 20 minutes, he makes sure he speaks to kids, moms, groms as well as rock stars; he doesn't swear, he knows the riders personally and the relationship shows when he interviews them; he sometimes has limited views and can't see exactly what is going on - working a live crowd is extremely difficult, and the crowds that I heard were loving it, I think he did a superb job, apart from losing his voice at the end lol. What Tippie is about: He watched three kids hoping to catch something from the toss ALL day, and at the end of the day, went over to them, and gave them a GoPro that he had just because he could tell they wanted it so bad, told them to share it, ride and film together. Tippie's a gentleman, his sponsors and others love him, and rightly so.
You have awesome parents too. I was sitting right next to them and their enthusiasm was rubbing off on me. Good luck with the rest of the season.
