Telluride, Colorado, finds a special place in the hearts of adrenaline junkies worldwide. Sitting high in the San Juan Mountains, between Durango and Fort Collins, CO, the town is surrounded on three sides by 13,000'+ rocky peaks, forming a unique geographic effect that reminds many of the European alps. Luckily for the lovers of two wheels, there are abundant trails throughout these mountains. We sent Jeff Kendall-Weed (the nicest guy in the world) there this fall to check out some trails on his HD3. Grab your favorite beverage and experience the trails and views of Telluride with Jeff Kendall-Weed. Thanks to kitsbow.com for the support.

Between Durango and Fort Collins? Odd reference
  • 42 0
Technically, It's true. it's also technically true for most everywhere in Colorado.
  • 9 0
 Maybe they meant Grand Junction?
  • 9 0
Ha. Seriously. "About a hundred miles to the east of Moab" or "nestled between Durango and Moab" or "Southwestern side of Colorado" would have done the job...
  • 81 0
Ah, yes, just like Denver. Nestled nicely between Nashville and San Francisco.
  • 20 1
More like its sits gently in the armpit of Miami and Fairbanks.
  • 4 0
Happy to know I am not the only one who thought that waa strange.
  • 4 0
conveniently located a stone's throw from both Sedona and Jackson Hole.....

I think the local bud dispensaries had a lot of influence on this article.

Nestled warmly in the crotch of Colorado

i'd like a manual for xmas
  • 22 1
I too have manual envy. There should be a support group
  • 2 1
@swamper1: Sometimes i manual for nothing in traffic. I have to stop doing this! This manual habit will ruin my life!
  • 4 0
@swamper1: nevermind the supportgroup, spend your energy doing Ryan Leech Manual masterclass and you will be riding better for it.
Do his other tutorials as well, even if you think you know something already there is most likely a small detail you missed that makes difference.

@yanndmc: I do it a lot too Razz I am almost able to ride over 100ft without using the rear brake, but damn it's hard. The way he manualed that creek was insane. That's some god damn control, not rolling on asphalt ;P You can see it in his riding in general that he is a one lean ball of firing muscle. Amazing skills, so great to watch.

I got the manual on the birthday. No one wants to gift me regular rear brake servicing though.

 the guy is a beast!!!

Love how he's always smiling ear to ear in his videos...truly doing what he loves more than anything!
  • 10 0
I got that too. here is a clip of someone truly having fun. not racing, doing circus stunts or marketing their brand. just riding, and having fun.

The HD3 is a fantastic bike. The ibis team did great in the ews and it's one of the best climbing bikes I've demoed in the 150mm-160mm class of bikes. A superb all-rounder. It should be a hell of a lot more popular than it is.
  • 10 0
A bike that is truly a jack of all trades. Love mine to death. Did a 100 mile century ride on it recently!
  • 1 0
 Plenty of 'em around here!
  • 2 0
Turner RFX is another DW link bike that doesn't get the props it deserves. Best bike I've ever ridden, absolutely smokes what the big brands got, but they're small, and maybe don't have the coin to advertise or fund a team.
  • 2 0
Couldn't agree more. Like the Bible review says, it's like a big BMX bike. I just cant believe how playful it is. You'd never know you have a 160 climbing around, but then it's just sweet cushion when it gets rough. Best bike I've ever owned.

wanted to buy one but the large was too short reach wise and the xl was too long in the seattube :-(
  • 1 0
@funkzander: Happened to me on a Rotwild RX1 all mountain 27.5, L felt short, XL huge seat post and 8cm stem.
  • 1 0
The only bike on the Market that is truly going to work as designed with the new generation of 2.5-2.8'' tires! The HD3 was the best money I ever spent on a bicycle.

Come to Bay Area / Santa Cruz - you will mostly see HD3 / Bronson / Nomad

puns in the title now too, sweet

Durango and Fort Collins are about 400 miles apart...and Fort Collins is no where near the San Juan Mtns...But Cool Video!
  • 1 0
Right! - I think Telluride is known well enough that they could have just said western CO

Although videos of flat out trail mobbin' are great, Jeff Kendall-Weed embodies my dream trail skill-set. His videos were definitely a part of what sold me on the HD3. Couldn't be happier with my choice. Keep em comin'!!!!!
  • 1 0
"Jeff Kendall-Weed embodies my dream trail skill-set" is exactly what I think every time I see this guy ride. He should get more coverage.
  • 12 0
I can Telluride very well sir.
  • 8 0
he rides the way everyone wants to ride. he plays with the trail, he can charge, he can huck. There should be a discipline in mountain biking based on having fun on the trail. i think they should call it freeride...
  • 10 1
I hope santa brings me manual skills like that for Christmas...
  • 6 0
I like it when they show pros not getting it the first time. Like Drew Bezanson said "you see the skills, but you don't see the years of practice leading up to this point." or something like that
  • 6 0
VOM so far !!!! That was so dreamy... every aspect why i m into mtb is here

 The San Juans are awesome.

For me, this is how marketing works. I like watch Jeff Kendall-Weed ride, so I watch his segments. I had never heard of Kitsbow before, but I appreciate that they helped provide this (and his other) free content that I enjoyed watching. The next time I'm looking for clothing that they make, I'll give their products highest consideration if it fits, looks good, etc., etc. Granted that might not be for months or years, so it's a long game, but it does work.

Thanks guys for the cool edit.

I think I'm repeating what many have said, but @JeffWeed videos always make me want to drop everything and get on my bike. The style is a lot of it, but also the fact that it's still trail riding.

That hut is a super cool place, called the OPUS Hut!! It's way up in the mountains and Bob the owner will take good care of you. We went up there this summer and I'll be back both summer and winter for some backcountry biking and skiing.

I swear sometimes after watching vids like this I don't know how to ride a bike.
  • 1 0
Awesome riding! It seems like there are a ton of BC and Cali vids, and for good reason, but it's good to some get some CO footage in the mix.

Talk about click bait.....side note--I've ridden in Telluride and it can not be described in words or video--but you want to tell everybody you've ridden there. Definitely was a check on the bucket list--Thanks Warren Miller

So smooth! Nice line chioces too. Natural high is the best kind.
  • 1 0
I have the same bike, but can't manual like that. Must be the rider...err. Separately what size water bottle is he fitting with the fox x2 in there?
  • 1 0
@sutter2k What size HD3 do you have? I've got a large with an X2, and can barely stuff a Specialized 21oz short bottle in there.
  • 1 0
@jaydubmah: XL. I still have the DBInline. Looking at other options or just playing for the annual servicing. Also looking at dvo topaz.
  • 3 0
 Awesome rider like always

Omg, he's doing what I want to do. Instead I'm laying in bed hiding so I don't have to put up the Christmas tree. "Fair trade coffee beans"
