Stein's lockring remover is the best because it has a guide pin and attaches to a standard 3/8" socket. You know how Shimano has a recommended torque setting printed on the lockring? Well Stein's lockring remover is the only one that can actually be used with a torque wrench. Also, forget about chain whips. I think there are few people who haven't injured themselves in some way using a chainwhip (gonna happen sooner or later, trust me). Use Stein's Hyper-Handle or Pedro's Vise Whip instead.
