With winter finally upon us the days get shorter, the nights get longer and the amount you end up riding decreases (if you’re a fair weather rider like myself). Along with winter comes the rain, cold weather and you’re favourite trail usually looking a little worse for wear.

Sam Lawson

Winter in the South East of England this year has been quite mild give or take a few blisteringly cold days and some monsoon like showers; Leaving trails in pretty good condition for this time of the year; With the ground in places being fairly slick and moist but dry and solid in others this makes for some pretty fun riding.

Whether it's getting the back end loose on a soggy corner or nailing a dry-ish rooty straight as fast as you can, winter in the UK is pretty… Hard to Beat!

 @hdeboissard: yeah, winter on the slopes of the Alps or in Whistler must be pretty minging compared to our drizzle, rain, short days and general misery Smile

 I'm fairly certain it's called "Hard to Beat" because that was the name of the song he wanted to used over the top of the footage. Everything else is made to fit around.

 @hdeboissard: And it's bollocks, isn't it?

I'd much rather ride hard-frozen trails in bright Winter sunshine than be up to the hubs in gloopy cack in a gale while it pisses down so hard that it bounces up 6 feet and comes down a second time....

 @codfather1234: Yeah, must be a Hard-fi fan, they are from Surrey as well.

 @hdeboissard: You are spot on! It's all about making the best out of the surroundings you live in! Plus the song helped me choose the the title and helped write the "blog"

 barely a puddle in sight either... Still the l'il guy's out there having the time of his life riding his "on trend" too big for him bike helping kill any semblance of style his pointless little kick outs may have otherwise had.

 Surrey Hills whenever this video was filmed - loamy and dry. Surrey hills this weekend - mostly hub-deep, ice-covered puddles.
