Opinion: The Machines Have Soul, Don't They?
The derailleur has been around for a very long time but as soon as something that has been proved to be better (weight & efficiency), it will continue to be refined. I had a Hammerschmidt years ago and that was a heavy pos. I would be all for something new but I think it's decades away if ever.

Your rant was pretty funny but was just a rant and your comparison an EV to a gas car is way off. I don't see any data to back it up your statement. When was the last time you broke your derailleur?

You seem to brace everything from industry without a care in the world.... I'm just a little more skeptical and cynical. I think PB users are done with you... nothing but neg props on basically anything you say.

no one has won a WC on Gazz or 2.8 Michi back in the day. If bigger tires were faster, WC racers would have been doing it years ago. 650+ will be for beginner or intermediate riders. Weight is key, especially with wheels whether you go up or down. It's nothing more than a trend like Fat Bikes to get more $ out of consumers to fuel this constant need by manufacturers to shove things down our throat.

Weight and efficiency.... nothing wrong with modern derailleurs. When was the last time you broke one?

some people will obviously buy them... people buy Karpiel and Ellsworth. The last place you want to add weight is the outermost of a wheel. How many WC's were won on 3.0's? This is just another niche trend spurred on my manufacturers to make more $ obviously.

1Question - What's The Biggest Game Changer In The Next 10 Years?
e-bikes have a motor... hence motorbikes. I'm so tired of people trying to "sell" these things. People having easier access to the trails isn't necessarily a good thing. Especially for the trail builders. Bike shops care more about making a buck than the greater good. Gateway bikes? Drugs are bad.

Big heavy tires didn't work 15 years ago... not going to happen again.... despite what Deeeight says.

This bike will be outdated by hub standards next year. Anyone still ride DH bikes?
