Well, if we go down that road, why not ban all sports where you can die practicing, like f1, motocross, motogp? I know that there are lots of injuries, but people are pushing the limits, there are consequences, and other sports have that too... Lousã here in portugal was techy too, but I don't really think that this would be the answer, because these are often the parts of the track that when you fall, you hit very hard stuff... Remember Losinj and Claudio Caluori "retiring" from previews...
I think the people who have these crashes are doing what they love, and prefer that over less risky stuff. Let them do that. As for the regular joes, ride carefully, and don't exceed what you can do, and you should be ok.
