 Most of the fat bikes until recently were designed for relatively slow speed plodding rather than trail ripping. With fat bikes increasingly being used as trail bikes, some are now being made with geometry that more closely matches modern trail bikes.

 There is confusion as to what trail means in context then. To me, any mountain bike is going to be ridden on a trail. Slow trails. Fast trails. Uphill trails... and so on. I'm still unsure what trail specific is supposed to mean when the guy says it. It guess it just means "we added squishy bits to the front."

 Most (nearly all) fat bikes to this point have been XC-type bikes: hard tails with rigid forks and steep geometry. Trail seems like the next logical progression before *gulp* Enduro fat bikes.
