@Davec85: Shimano has changed the licensing restrictions, pretty much everyone can get a license to sell a Microspline cassette from January 1st next year.

Shimano Loosens Micro Spline Hub Licensing Restrictions

@headshot: There are: https://bikerumor.com/2018/11/06/sunrace-adds-affordable-lightweight-10-52-cassettes-complete-1x12-groups/ Should be available in SA in the next couple of weeks. Not quite as light as SRAM's XD ones but way cheaper.

Shimano Loosens Micro Spline Hub Licensing Restrictions

You can already get a SRAM XD compatible SunRace Cassette (12 speed 10-50t, 11 speed 10-42t and 10-46t) I have been racing the 12 speed one for three months now. They also have a 12 speed 11-51t which mimics the Shimano 12 speed cassette gearing jumps but they don't have a Microspline one yet.

You have to remember that these guys are waaay faster than us. These guys are better than any regional champ or even most national armature champs. The higher speed dictate a different set up. It is a similar story in pro cycling, many riders ride a frame one or even two sizes smaller than what they logically should, the stems are 140mm plus in many cases. But again they are riding way faster than mare mortals - if you get a chance to ride with one of these guys do it, it's like trying to keep up with a motorbike!. 5 Details About SRAM's Wireless AXS Components

I like how when you ht the derailleur it makes a little electronic sound and come back for another whack, even though it knows it's going to get another one. Question is: Is the derailleur being defiant or is there a great big hulking robot overlord taking names for latter?
