Knolly Bikes is excited to announce the launch of their 2014 grassroots racing program, an effort aimed at supporting selected athletes in both DH and Enduro racing formats for 2014. We’re looking to build a solid foundation for a competitive racing program for years to come throughout the inaugural year, starting at the grassroots level but with high hopes of expanding to elite support on bigger stages. Everyone at Knolly is a fan of racing and we hope to contribute to the sport and help to develop a few upcoming shredders. We'll be recruiting racers for the 2014 season, and we expect those selected to have a handful of solid results, represent the brand to a high level of professionalism, and act as true ambassadors in their local scenes in order to graduate through the program to our Elite or Team sponsorship levels.
bigquotesEveryone at Knolly is very excited about the grassroots racing program on many different levels. Clearly, the opportunity to have more athletes competing on our product is a key focus for the effort, but to also have a group of ambassadors acting as Race Managers is a great asset to our business. I look forward to seeing the program grow as we enter our inaugural year. - Noel Buckley, President & CEO of Knolly Bikes
Chilcotin

The Chilcotin is well equipped to handle any type of racing format you want to throw it at. Burly enough for DH tracks yet nimble enough for Enduro, this frame offers the complete versatility.

Racers of all disciplines can reap the rewards of Knolly's high-tech 4xFOUR suspension design, and we want to make our technology available to more riders than ever before through this new grassroots program. - Kevin Waterbury, Global Sales Manager

Regional Race Managers will be responsible for recruitment, interviews and selection, and criteria for recruitment will be focussed on racers that are planning to compete in a specific or number of race series in his or her local scenes around the globe. Equally important for recruitment are athletes that can represent themselves and the Knolly brand professionally and enthusiastically. If you are looking for a grassroots level sponsorship please e-mail your interest and resume to one of the Race Managers below who is specific to your region:

Shea Jordan: sheabiker@gmail.com - Southern California (L.A. South), Arizona, New Mexico, Mexico, South America

Bought an endorphin and still haven't found a limit to what you can throw at it, or down for that matter. I was speechless how smooth it was on drops that scared me on my dh rig! I have to be honest though, my drops don't usualy exceed 8 foot, haha, admit it, your not much different from me!

it should be against the law to ride a hartdail, in a bike park, wearing pj's
  • 6 0
what would you recommend riding a 4x track with then?
  • 1 2
a "skid lid" or something equivalent, some shorts or maybe jeans, and a tee would be idea tbh. haha much less expensive too.
  • 4 0
meant more the type of bike to be honest, but don't really want to argue on pinkbike so i'll just leave it at that
  • 1 0
Yeah the Pinkbike arguments can get out of hand really fast
  • 1 2
The PJ's are probably "drop seat pajamas". To show bear ass when passing.
  • 2 0
 They're clearly not Pj's

There's way too many companies offering "grass roots" sponsorship that is basically just a way to boost sales of frames or bikes with a slight discount.

I'll pass, but if you apply for this please be careful; you may to be asked to hand over thousands before you really hear anything.
  • 3 0
 Why would
You hand over thousands?
  • 8 2
It depends on the reasoning behind it, if the company is going to help you get contacts, or provide something more than just a discounted bike - advice, maybe a fitness or race plan, a list of events to enter, goals, and promoting you as their rider on a website. Anyone can get a discounted bike from a friend in a shop. If thats all you're getting, they are just trying to boost sales and you should walk away, it's not worth the hassle.
  • 2 3
Yea, i guess. But its still pretty cool to ride for a bike brand even as part of the grassroots racing program, especially a bike brand like Knolly...
  • 3 1
I wouldn't consider it "riding for a brand" unless they know you by name, which they wont. most grassroots type stuff is just a discount where you never talk to anybody and they don't know you and there are 1000s of others in the program. it's a way to boost sails. that's why you don't see ads for trek, specialized, etc putting up ads for grassroots; they don't need to boost sales like a smaller brand like knolly does.

its all about building relationships. you gotta starts somewhere and this is the best way to start doing so. You have to work your way up. Gwin didn't just get handed a factory team spot neither will anybody else.
  • 1 0
Very well said bikemore123....you can't just make a video and expect a free bike. Companies aren't gonna give you ANYTHING until they are happy with what you give them and there company.
  • 3 2
Anyone have a resume outline they wanna share with me?

Just re-use last years Dear Santa letter and throw in some fresh cookies, Noel loves some cookies...you are welcome!
  • 2 0
 Thanks, that was extremely useful.

Still loving my 09 Endorphin. The most versatile bike I've ever ridden. Starting to consider the newer ones so I can get into a tapered head tube and other new developments.
  • 1 0
The new Endorphins and Chilcotins don't have tapered headtubes, but they accommodate tapered forks, with an external lower headset cup. The new Endo is waaaay more playful than the older version, which was as you say, quite versatile.
