From NASCAR to the Trails with Ty Dillon
A few years back, Sedona on an Autumn mid-week morning(Ah Sedona), caught up to a guy taking a view break, 'George', seemed like a local, super cool demeanor, dialed bike and all. We trailed each other for the next hour, good skills being exhibited where we split trails at another view break( Ah Sedona!). Exchanging handshakes, I said my full name for some reason, with a "damn glad to ride with ya' George" handshake. "George Lynch" he said mellowly. It didn't even hit me until I read an article about George( guitarist- Lynch Mob, Dokken) living in AZ! I knew he "seemed like somebody". At least when I ran into Ricky Carmichael, I knew him right away! I think a "Guess Who Rides MTB" section would be kind of eye opening.

Deity: New Digs in Idaho
@chasejj: Fair enough! Without the knowledge of Deity actually "manufacturing" their parts "in- house"(didn't see any machines or signs of them) I jumped ahead of myself a bit. I have done the numbers a few times for my own designs and found it damn near impossible to design, buy material, create, engineer, test and market parts in the USA and be PROFITABLE. IMMPOSSIBLE!(ok extremely difficult) for a small company to be profitable without some level of serious financial backing, or selling out. Everybody wants their cut, it's the American way! Thus....cheap Chinese labor. Deity has the right idea, but I must agree, Chris King IS the great example. China opened up a shop(w/ vietnamese workers) in our area and undercut everyones estimates by sometimes a nickel per part! OUTRAGEOUS!!! Lost a couple of big contracts we had for over 5 years. Went to their shop to see it, "Brand new" machines, 7 to be exact ($$$$), and 10 machinists(?)all making 9$/hr!!! USA?

Deity: New Digs in Idaho
Awesome story! Great to hear there are people "IN IT" for the ride AND riders, and NOT the almighty $$$! Damn shame there aren't more companies with this mindset! Being a (recently laid-off) machinist I know all too well the cost factors involved in programming, extrusion, tooling, testing, marketing, etc., so for Deity to grow AND expand, AND hold onto the core values that has made them "DEITY", and STAY successful is a true American success story. Congratulations! Thank you Sadie, Eric and staff. Looks like I'll be replacing my straitline peds sooner than I thought. I'm a bit of a pedal breaker, so I'm interested in the new forthcoming designs.(already know the bars, stems and frames are ROCK SOLID) Can only imagine the industry offers you'll be turning down now! Just hit 'em with a NO thank you and a big fat smile!

Opinion: My Favorite Bike
The first bike I ever had! Red junker with rat trap pedals, quill stem, and a coaster brake. But getting set free to go All the way around the block?!? That day changed my world forever! Yup, Red rat trap quill stemmed coasterbraked junker, all time favorite! All the others are just improvements.( I still don't know how I used to jump trash cans with a coaster brake!)
