With the ski season behind us, and the last of the snow gone, opening Day at La Parva is almost here. The Santa Cruz guys can't stop railing the berms and hitting the new dirt jumps before the public gets here, check out some of the new features below.

December 12, 2011 will unveil some new trails, pump track, and dirt jumps at the La Parva bike park near Santiago, Chile.

why the hell do you have to ride the ski lift to the top to ride the pump track? do they expect you to ride your pump track bike DH?
  • 8 2
No, they expect you to walk it... Obviously you ride it.

 Who knows...

After watching that first video, I'm now going to book my winter trip to either Milwaukee or Cleveland......I'm going to Ray's. Two days in the air and shuttling in and out of airports doesn't look like it'd be worth to ride the trails highlighted in the vids. Horrible!!!!!!!
  • 2 2
kmo95 Looked to me like it was at the bottom of the lift. Why its crammed right in beside the lift station though, I do not know.
  • 3 3
Those trails doesn't look fun at all....
  • 3 1
The pump track is actually at the bottom of the lift, so need to ride your hard tail bike on the big trails or vice versa.

antmav: I agree horrible edit! I am from Chile and I have been going to La Parva since 2003, long before they opened the lift for bikes during the summer. There are some really great places to ride there and it is shame that they didn´t show them.

Chile is a great country to ride, we have many many awesome trails and DH tracks, unfortunately, in terms of infrastructure we are still 10 years behind. It is just a matter of time. Who knows, maybe in a few years you will be booking a 2 weeks mountain bike vacation down there Wink

 @Pato
Glad to hear there is way more to the La Parva Park and Chile than what was shown in the two vids.

I think the best thing that can be done right now is get all the local riders and filmakers together and put together a reflective video showing the varitey of trails, landscape, and sweet riding.

That's what will get people pumped and me on a plane!!!!!!!!!!!!

Props!

why all the haters....every park isn't hollywood. Way to represent Chile....!
  • 5 8
im hating because im pretty shur that most people on pb with bikes that weigh from 38lbs to 55 would agree that it looks like a complete waste of time, a pump track and a couple dirt jumps dosent make it a bike park that needs to hav a chair lift, in my opinion just a complete waste of time for the people who had to take wat ever they needed to build that up a mountain when they could hav made it on a feild 10 mins frome the city, idk about any1 else but it dosent really make sense to me?
  • 3 1
just read my comment above, you'll see it is not that shity Wink
  • 1 1
im pretty shur no 1 spells like that.
c'mon, NORTHVAN4LIFE, honestly. you a 12 year old on a cell phone?
  • 3 1
NORTHVAN4LIFE..i'm glad you can represent most people on pb, because the site was in need of a senator. I once read some where a good saying, i think it went something like this...."if u dont have anything nice to say dont say it if ur havin fun s'all good! i might not b as good as u or b able to keep up but u dont have to be a douche about it, im having fun so f**k off" Oh you know what??? I believe i read it on your profile...ironic...huh! I just wish people would practice what they preach. "Keep it civil! Be constructive and on-topic"
  • 11 0
all it is is a couple jumps and a pump track... whats the big deal?
  • 3 0
the jump trail is actually 12 minutes long Wink be gentle guys... it is their first year as a real MTB Park... they have a lot to work on in the next five years we will work together... and remember that all of that has been done in just a month...

VIVA CHILE MIERDA!
PD: ESTOY ORGULLOSO DE QUE HAYAN PUESTO ESTA NOTICIA DEL BIKE PARK CHILENO AQUI MUCHAS GRACIAS, Y PARA LOS QUE CRITICARON ESTO SON UN DES ORGULLO PARA EL DH Y EL DEPORTE

Im just saying from the video

That was just a sample of some new things for this year, there is plenty more in our park than the pump track and dirt jumps. Wait till we open for more content and more features. We are not Whistler but with our terrain we can offer some really unique riding, so stay tuned!
  • 1 0
i've been looking at the website and google maps. Plenty of terrain to work with so plenty of potential. Can't find the track length, level and altitude drop though. Where can I find all that?
  • 5 1
You guys haven't seen the other tracks in the area. There's much more to Chile than one bike park. The ride down from the park into town, on sick singletrack on exposed ridges, takes about 45+ minutes. Cedric didn't get paid anything. He has joined me down there for the last 3 or 4 years, and loves it. It's a fantastic place to spend some weeks in the winter.
  • 3 0
why don't you show ''el parvaso'' o ''parva clasica'' i dont remerber the name, but it is like a 45 minutes downhill with a lot of beautiful landscapes, not only a desert, that is also another thing that you can't see in this videos.
  • 4 2
for all da people that's talking s**t of the bikepark, have u already, visit Chile?, I think that u all haven't or most of u, just come to the bike park cause it's awesome, and obvoisly CG is right there for something, and he's one of the best riders ever.
  • 6 4
ok. you all who commented bad about this bike park of my country are wrong.
You think that everything is like in their countries but not here in South America we have what we have and nothing else, have the stereotype that all bike parks have to be abolished and be more green but do not have that here we are not a whistler, of course, just because you have whistler, silverstar, mont sainte annie think they can criticize as they please to the other bike parks but for your information we are not like you if you do not like to stay with their wea of whistler, all you do is criticize then come you and platen his first steps since you afraid of the sun, we strive to have a quality bike park, forgive me if they liked life but the wea ugly you all criticize the bike park of my country, with a good term Chilean i tell : ME LOS PASEO A TODOS USTEDES QUE CRITICAN Y NO CONOSEN. VIVA CHILE MIERDA!
PD: I AM PROUD OF THIS NOTICE HAS MADE THE CHILEAN PARK BIKE HERE THANK YOU, AND THIS Critics DES ARE A PRIDE FOR DH AND SPORT

 Wtf????
  • 2 0
im really glad to see my country and our mountains here on pinkbike, but i agree that the vids are boring. its true that's just the new sections of the bike park, because the rest of it uff just so hard, fast and so fun. its true also, that here in chile we don't have such a hughe bike park like whistler, but the tracks here are the same of funnie, hard and technique but they are all NATURAL!!! so come to chile and judge yourself
  • 2 0
Very nice to know that my awesome Chile is opening a great bike park.I come from Chile and I been in La Parva.it a awesome place.so now I know in Summer time to do some DH.Goo Chile that lots of riders gonna go to Chile.VIVA CHILE MIERDA!!!!!
  • 6 1

  • 4 1
it looks like, but it's not, if u haven't ride in Chile is better that u shut up (Y), come here and see how is the bike park, CG come here every summer for the VCA and stay a week to come to La Parva.

  • 3 1
Weak............that run in the 1st video looks like a circa 1990 Mammoth Kamikaze run, only with a few lousy jumps to flat. Horrible.
  • 1 1
Not sure why they bothered to post this on here and waste everyones time. Who rational human would pay thousands of dollars to get to Chile and ride a pathetic DH course and pump track when we have plenty of ACTUAL parks here in the states and canada?
  • 3 1
you might not know my company, but trust me when I say I built way more than what you're thinking... the new trail (jump and flow trail) is actually 12 minutes...
  • 1 0
why isn't it shown on the videos then! all I saw was a bit of boardwalk, 2 DJ's and some sort of trail which was being ridden by a dude on a cross country bike, downhillers and dirt jumpers!
  • 1 1
lil-amazing-kid way to be man, you obviouly dont realize that every park started out small like this, and like anything else, with exposure through articles like this they become great like whistler. And who are you to say its pathetic? have you ridden there? I know I havent and thats all the more reason to want to try it!
  • 1 1
Sad but true... this bike park looks really boring, i've never been there though. fortunately though there are some very cool spots to ride here in chile, Nevados de Chillan is one of the most visited spots so you guys from europe and northamerica should come down here and see it, It's really worth the effort.
  • 1 0
if you guys want trees, Nevados is the place to visit, As green as BC

just one picture to explain how the trail is...http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150368010935980&set=a.10150192785435980.304626.667755979&type=3&theater
  • 2 1
do u really need a 50 lb bike and a full face helmet and all that stuff just to ride a pump track? dont really get how its a bike park thats worth all the comotion
  • 4 0
There's a reason CG was riding one, the bike park is very gnarly, the terrain itself is really rough. The pump track is something new they added this year, and it's only a very small part of the bike park. Personally I haven't been to this bikepark, but I plan on going this summer.
  • 2 1
maybe in 20 years the trails will catch up to our standards, it looks line mammoth 25 years ago, and with all that terrain you could do some serious sculpting.
  • 3 1
standard is already match dude... I built a 12 minute jump trail up there... but the video doesn't deserve it... just wait for the next edit Wink

  • 1 3
Jesus, how much did they have to pay Cedric for that promo?!? At least if you crashed bad you might get a ride in a helicopter, only I'm struggling to see what might make you crash.....chip a tooth on the pump track? Would that justify a helicopter? It just looks very very boring.....
