The Taipei Cycle Show has plenty of new product, but there is just as many weird and wonderful things that we need to show you as well. Inside this random you'll find a healthy mix of both!
The level of detail in these miniatures was ridiculous, complete with working suspension and pedals. Check out the Formula brake calipers that are also from the same period as the prototype Giant that the bike is modeled after.
Look familiar? It should, the MN26AT pedal from HT is sold under a different name and has been quite popular with the weight weenies. It comes in at 275g for the pair with titanium axles and a magnesium bodies. Looks pretty damn sexy as well!
Another pedal from HT, this one looking resembling some other designs that you may have seen around. No idea on the weight, but it felt quite light.
These MDH pedals use an interesting design that allows the curved body sections to flex slightly when weighted. The four central pins also hold each foot bed in place onto the center section. Mountain worthy? Who knows, but they are neat.
While I don't know if this has a future on the trails, it sure did look like fun to take out in the parking lot.
There are so many things wrong with this that I don't even know where to start... Check out the "sidecar's" frame that is built from two forks, a top tube, and a head tube welded together. How about the baby seat that is perched precariously atop the steel post and seat rail clamp, complete with comfort bike saddle springs.
An area just outside the show was designated for 'best of show' pieces and winners of design awards. This bad boy is surely not UCI legal but it does look rad.
Seaweed sushi flavored chips for a snack on the bullet train. I like chips and I like sushi rolls, but combining the two didn't have the effect that I thought it would...
Our hotel's TV remote was wrapped in a thick layer of Saran wrap for reasons that I'd rather not think about. The question is, how often do they re-wrap it?
Hanging out at the jump spot in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, built by the brothers Dunnet. Rob's bro James coming through the set.
Rob Dunnet was waiting to pick up the Pinkbike crew at the 'kiss and ride'. Where else would he wait?
Something was lost in translation.
Stay tuned for more updates from the Taipei Cycle Show!
They make sense. Instead of one thick crank arm, each crank has two arms which should make for a stiffer cranks. You could probably have cranks that bolt to the four holes on current spiders.
Where's a CNC machine when I need one? Gotta make a call...
well there more now but still, there amazing!
i stick to the an01's- i feel like it's a wider platform and the same style as superstars/diety decoys. i picked up a set of ax08's and didn't like them as much because they were more narrow than the others
