Video: First Look at the 2015 Specialized Demo
Dangerously average? You must mean Hill's World Champion title in 2010, Brosnan's Junior World Champion titles in 2010 and 2011 and the fact that Troy and Aaron are #1 and #2 in the WC standings right now, all on the 'old bike'? Yeah, I can see how that's average... :)

Looks like it's purely about the fun of it, like it should be. Awesome event guys!

Pinkbike Poll: Tell Us About Your Rides
So I guess 4X really is dead? Or at least even less alive than "friendly" or "slow" riding?

Video: The Enduromat
Jasper definitely has raced enduro, and quite well too. But to anwser your question, at most races (in Europe at least) you have to earn your downhills, so you do about as much climbing as descending. It differs per series (and race) though, but I'd say time-wise you will be climbing a lot longer than descending, that's for sure. It's a totally different sport man, hours on the bike in stead of just a few minutes. I enjoy both when I can, racing downhill on a (good, 150+mm) enduro bike is no problem if you're a smooth rider. Just give both of them a go!
