Trek World Racing rider, Laurie Greenland gives the all new black trail at BikePark Wales "50 Shades of Black" a preview ride.

BikePark Wales newest trail “50 shades of black” will open this Friday 27th February. “50 shades” is their longest and gnarliest black trail to date, with a classic Welsh mix of rock, roots and mud. The trail has been named 50 shades of black due to the varying surfaces, topography, trail style and vegetation all within this single trail.

50 shades uses an as yet unused part of the hill on the south side of the mountain at BikePark Wales and descends the full 280 metre vertical drop over its 1.8 kilometre length.

Additionally BikePark Wales will soon be opening a new pro-line section which peels off the lower slopes of 50 shades which will be known as “Join the dots”. This new pro-line option uses natural rock ledges and boulders to create step downs, hips and doubles that will test even the very best of riders.

yeah they just need to get a new jet washer now, the other one always breaks at 4.35pm, just so you cant clean your bike, bull shitting twats

To be honest I can't knock the actual facility, I just made the mistake of taking a DH bike there! I might give it another go in the summer on the short travel. Just need more natural sections for my liking and unfortunately there isn't much of a wood there as it's mostly been fell'd

the bike park is good, me and my son have had some fantastic unforgetable days there, i just got pissed off the lasttwo times i have been, being told the jet washer was broken when it actually was'nt, i just hate being bull shitted to thats all, i've got some more days booked and look forward to going again, i think they have just got a bit complacent with the fact that it will always be booked up every day whatever the weather is, it's a good day oput, but it used to be a fantastic day out thats all

just to clarify me saying I was bull shitted to, I finished the last run of the day, got back to the shop 25mins before it shuts, I asked to use the jet washer as my bike was covered in a lot of thick mud and I was putting it inside the car for the drive home, I was told the washer was broken, there were at least 20 shop/demo bikes standing in the jet wash station that had all been cleaned, so I asked how they had been cleaned then, the reply was they had used a bucket and sponge, so i asked if I could use the bucket then, to be told that the bucket had broken as well so I could not use that either,, sorry but that imo was a complete load of utter bollocks. it just put a downer on a fun days riding

but please book a day or more up as it really is a great day out, and if airshotz are there taking photo's I can highly recommend them as well.
