Love these videos, fantastic production. Would be great to see Liam do a similar series on another other Canadian rider in a different discipline. Go Emily!
It's so awesome to hear her praise the Wednesday Night Series at Hardwood Hills. I grew up racing there in high school and have countless memories. Perfect slice of mountain bike culture in Ontario and impressive to know she still rides there.
I have been hoping for a video/documentary about Batty and this far exceeds my expectation as it really helped give me perspective of who she is and connect us to her as an athlete and role model. Proud to have her represent us in Canada!
I sometimes think XC riders don't get the limelight because it's "not as cool" compared to the likes or enduro or DH, but credit where it's due...it's seriously impressive what they can do!
I middle finger brake as well. Always have since I was kid. I agree with everything she said about it. I think I have better control over the bike with my pointer fingers still on the bars. I try and do it the normal way sometimes and I can't even ride.
great video, far more interesting than some of the others.......felt like a bit of an ad campaign for Porsche but super enjoyable nonetheless....man, the cross country courses have gotten way more technical!
good to see
Wow! What's not to love about Emily Batty! Such a cool chick and a very fine racer as well; she is so down to earth/normal/funny, and let's not forget drop dead gorgeous! Plus she drives a Porsche! I love these Ambitions videos that she does, very well done! Keep at it Emily...you will win a UCI World Cup race, it is in your future.
It still surprises me how few people brake with their middle finger. I'm with her on this one. Braking with the middle finger gives you a wider grip on the handlebar (between the index and pinky) than you'd get with the more common index finger braking (a grip between middle finger and pinky). It does mean that you'll need to set your brakes more outboard and need the set reach further from the handlebar (or your index finger will get squeezed when you brake) but for me that's not an issue at all.
I know!! I was at the meeting with Porsche, Oakley, Trek and her other sponsors, and that is ALL they could talk aboot. Not her results or ginormous fan base, but her damn hair coloring.
@bikewriter: Yeah I can imagine, maybe she should get sponsored by L'oreal. I would have thought a sharp individual such as your self would have brought it up.
Looks like she doesn't really care. She's not a model just cause she is a hot female professional athlete. she's a racer come on now. You should go to l'oreal forums and hand out advice.
