Video: Dirt Sculpting Artist or Trail Builder in 'A Rideable Piece of Art'
@phil-mclean: I find if I build just the groove of the berm thats needed and nothing more, keep it narrow, test often so every inch is brakeless when it sets up, and don't build more than 100degree corner it's almost impossible for the influencer kooks to skid slash berms. I don't open up the bottom enough for them to inside and cutty. They need to ride the berms normally to keep trail speed for jumps. Add in a few slash boobs to keep the slashers happy it helps it not get clapped. I'm talking about when you ride a brand new trail and it's braking bumps top to bottom, someone fucked up. Canada line and Bermalade at sun peaks are good examples. constantly need 2 drag brakes so you don't blow over the top

@Diesel-Powered: For sure. Some of the best builders will go broke trying to build their dream trail under contract. If you want to make a great trail and not starve yourself, every minute and scoop of dirt counts. Build as narrow as the trail speed allows and use grade changes and line placement to control speed, not by moving massive amounts of dirt building "catcher mitt" 180 berms. Those eat up the most time building and end up getting the most clapped out in the long run. Having a passion project on the side without time constraints helps maintain sanity.

I love builders who build the trail for bikes, not for the machines they're building with. Been following Jolliffe for a while now and I love the way he rehab's the edges with topsoil to leave it clean.
This industry has so many people in it right now that just make a huge disaster, get paid, and still get props because most riders can't tell the difference. If your riding a trail thats less than a season old, and it's fucking clapped, call out the builders for sucking! There's still so many builders who don't put tires on the trail until it's done, that's like framing a house without a measuring tape. It's always nice to see talented people like Jolliffe making good stuff that looks to me like it will function great.

Henry's Waffle House: All-Mountain Bikes Are Back, and They're More Pointless Than Ever
all these different bikes and everything is really just doing the exact same thing, marching around a labrynth of mediocre enduro trails.
The only thing these small travel trail bikes are good for is buying in the smallest size, single speeding, taking the dumb fucking dropper post out, setting up for barspins. Since the industry decided to just up at delete all full suspension dirt jumpers.

Introducing the 2024 Kona Pro-Development & Ambassador Teams
Honestly their athletes would be better off on pre-2016 kona's than the garbage bikes they have now.

Introducing the 2024 Kona Pro-Development & Ambassador Teams
Are the freeride ambassadors going to be on insta telling me I should buy a 150 travel process "DH" bike?
I grew up riding konas because they were the sickest fucking bikes. The Bass, Stinky's, Stab, Operator. WTF happened? You have girls on your team who might be the first female rampage competitors and your going to send them there on a dinky little trail bike?
