@The-Foiling-Optimist: At least a couple of the manufacturers listed above used to get their parts anodized in the lower mainland, until the scrap rate at that stage became prohibitive. There's a really good metal finishing place in Portland that they all use since quite some time. Given that anodizing involves acid baths (pools), electrodes and exposure time requirements that are sensitive to the alloy involved, type of anodization (regular or hard) as well as color desired, scrap parts stem from human error by the operator of the anodizing rig, sometimes to the tune of melting parts down to nothing. The way parts a racked, be it by marking surfaces, allowing air bubbles to be trapped in a cavity or straight up falling off are also big culprits. Parts are racked by hundreds at a time, so one error can scrap an entire batch that took days to machine. Polishing parts only makes them more shiny.

You have to fully remove the damper from the fork to bleed it, but you don't need to remove the knobs or any small parts? Pretty sure you have to remove both the compression and rebound knobs to get the damper out of there.. Any word as if the compression knob will still be stupidly hard to clock with the damper on most units? I just happen to have serviced a lot of the old Pikes and this step sucks half the time.

I still wear my 3/4 Dainese body armor, why wouldn't I? It didn't save me from every possible injury, no doubt, but it spared me from A LOT of them. I find it hilarious all those kids wearing leath braces but no back plate or nothing. What are the odds of breaking your neck versus any other type of injury? People just don't want to invest on their protection once they have a brand new bike and tld kit. It may have to do with what bike shops have in stock, people just don't know what's going on and buy whatever they see. 'If I have my leath brace, I did what I could to be safe from injury.' Whooo!

As a suspension technician, I was of the belief that we were using nitrogen against the shock's floating piston exactly because it's volume remained pretty much the same across the full range of temperatures the suspension would encounter. I was developing suspensions in Quebec, where it's cold as fuck. That's also the gas used to fill car tires at good tire shops, so the pressure doesn't drop too much with the temperature, because nobody checks their car tires at minus 30c. I guess they didn't create enough volume by making the post longer, so they can't put enough gas pressure without having it ramp up too much in full compression under hot temperature. Therefore there's a noticeable drop in gas pressure under cold temperature in full extension. The system works on a pressure that's too low because the reservoir is too small. The system should probably have at least 200psi and probably has less than 100psi. Back to the drawing boards guys? I like Thomson products but I prefer a product that hasn't been rammed into production.
