“The North American Enduro Tour is proud to provide world class mountain bike Enduro events again for 2013,” says Devon Lyons, General Manager of the Oregon Enduro Series. “Athletes have come to expect competitive, well organized, high level events from us over the past couple of years and we want to work to share the sport of Enduro racing via the best venues on the continent.”

The North American Enduro Tour is in its third year of operation and will provide the same high level Enduro racing that its participants have become familiar with. Registration for North American Enduro Tour events will be available on venue websites in the coming weeks.

About the North American Enduro Tour

The North American Enduro Tour aims to provide world-class mountain bike Enduro events and develop the sport of Enduro mountain bike racing while combining unparalleled terrain at the best mountain bike locations in North America. In its third year of operations, the most well rounded riders competing in the series will be rewarded in a simple format that involves timed (descending) stages linked by transfer (climbing) stages that are not factored into the overall structure of results. This style of racing combines the excitement of downhill, the fitness of cross-country and camaraderie not before seen at mountain bike events in the past.

Yes... Almost. Nothing of this calibre in the North East yet thought... We need the North American Enduro Tour to hit up Vermont or NY me thinks...

konafarker- put on your own races and if it's quality enough, I don't see how it couldn't one day be included.

the excitement sure is building up for the season's Gravity Gran Fondos...............................

Looking forward to the waverly glenn challenge in NY. The problem i see for the north east is there are no trails long enough for a real enduro. Every resort i've been to has one or two trails you could incorporate but not enough for a race. And none of the public land where biking is aloud is large enough. The best we can do are long xc races and DH.

www.easternstatescup.com check it out. In addition to the usual 12 dh races this season there will also be 5 enduro races

whoah i might have to hit some of those up, i hope mountain creek does another super D event, i missed it last year

My wife gave me permission to do them all, then back pedalled when she saw I'd be doing 7+ of driving for three of them. I still hop to squeeze one out of her.

Time to upgrade that wife, man! ;p

FLY1NGF1SH Jeff Lenosky is in charge of the Mountain Creek Enduro and will definitely be doing it again this season. There is a lot of terrain good for enduros in the east. North Carolina has a few, ESC as mentioned above will be hosting a lot, Highland Mountain n New Hampshire has a pretty awesome one as well...not the same altitude as the mountains out west but plenty of vertical to be found. Hopefully we'll be recognized one of these years for this!

No such thing as an upgrade, six66. She rocks. You know my wife is cool cuz she just mangled her knee from wrecking a toboggan after standing up on a big hill. And she didn't wreck until after the jump.
She just doesn't to be ditched with three kids. A pair of 3 yr olds and an infant for 7 hours in the car is a bit much. plattekill for sure. Mt creek too. maybe a killington race if we can set up a camping trip, but all of them? That'll happen when I've got kids competing.

More like the West Coast Enduro tour.. nothing within 1500 miles of the East Coast
  • 2 0
seriously, there are definitely places on the east coast worthy. idk if it has more to do with the tour putting the race on or individuals(people or organizations) and the tour sponsoring it.

Glad i live on the West Coast

Definitely a little disappointing to not have any east coast representation, but I understand since we don't have any events with a track record of success yet, all our events are relatively new. I would think that after another year of events they'll have to take a look at some events (hopefully Mountain Creek :-) to add to the calendar. Regardless, it's great to see these events starting to shape up and get a higher level of professionalism.

There is an east coast enduro in the works that will have one stage that descends 3500 feet. Keep your fingers crossed that this event will happen. It's in the planning stages now

Nothing looks dumber than goggles with an XC helmet. I can't ride uphill in weather over 80 degrees with goggles on, or they fog up immediately.
  • 10 0
You don't have to wear your goggles the hole time, unless they are surgically attached to your face.
  • 1 2
It just seems like sunglasses would be a better choice for enduro riding. Doesn't seem very efficient to be removing goggles mid race, then getting a bee sting right in the eye.
  • 4 0
Not XC helmets, but AM helmets. Glasses get gunked up with sweet slime. Climbs aren't timed and are a casual ride up - not really middle of the race. Googles help narrow focus to what's in front of you and act as a sweat band to help keep sweat out of the eyes. Looks have nothing to do with it, all about function
  • 1 0
Climbs aren't timed! Sorry, I didn't read that part of the article. I may have to enter one of these myself. In that case, I could see why people would rock a half lid and goggles. It still looks ridiculous, but it's a race so who cares what you look like.
  • 3 0
 ^um, you do obviously.
  • 1 0
Dude in the picture up top is not racing. He has no number plate and looks like he's on a casual ride. It's one thing to look ridiculous if it serves a purpose for a race. It's another story to look like a moron on a normal ride.
  • 1 3
Hmm lets see......drive 3 hours to Hood River, bring AM bike, no ferry, get ready to pedal a bit. OR drive 3 hours to Port Angeles, bring DH bike, get in a sending mood, take ferry..... ahh dammit I won't be doing enduro this year.
  • 3 0
Just my experience, but I have way more fun at enduro races. Dh races can have the bro-factor and some people are up tight. Not everyone. But enduro races have always been super laid back and everyone is always super down to earth and cool. I have talked with more pros at enduro races then dh stuff and they are always super chill... Not to mention, I think that enduro races are the truest way to show the best bike riders.. Have to be able to descend like a dh racer but still have the power to climb fast.

I was more just griping about the drive to hood river. I've done enduro and enjoyed it. I'll do at least 1 or 2 this year, and 2 or 3 DH. this season will really determine where my allegiance lies.

So I suppose I was lying when I said I wasn't going to do enduro this year....such a wretch!!!

YA!!! Pumped for the Big Mountain Enduro Tour !!!

Does anyone know where the website for this years Park City stop is? All I have found is last years site. Post it! Thanks.

 3 within 3hrs = Smile .
3 huge entry fee$$$ = Frown

In the Oregon series, the Hood River and Mt Hood events are two-day deals. So while they are expensive, $105 gets you two days of racing action. But I do agree that $75 for one race is pretty spendy.
  • 1 0
Sick! Colorado is getting some action!!! Hope to be there!!

I think that picture is from Italy, not oregon.
