Ibis Says Goodbye to Bex Baraona
Meet Bex outside a pub in The Peaks many years ago with her trusty Transition Covert by her side. Great girl, I've watched her career with interest and I literally was screaming her on like crazy when she got her EWS win. I hope she gets the opportunities she deserves going forwards.

Pivot Mach 6 Super Bike

$3650 GBP
This is a fully loaded weapon of a bike. It rides up hill amazingly well, is fast as as very fast thing on trails, agile yet surefooted and an absolute blast to rally downhill. The spec is better than can be shop bought. Frame size medium, suit 5'6"to 5'10"... maybe a touch either side depending on how you prefer your bikes. The sweet spot weight wise for the current spring rate set up is between 11 and 13 stone. I am happy to help dial in the set up if the bike is picked up. The frame is a medium DW Link Pivot Mach 6 in stunning condition. The shock is a custom made Push 11-6 which is the King of shocks. Period. Up front is a Fox 36 that has an ACS3 advanced coil system upgrade on the spring side and has Andreani high flow pistons and a custom rebound shim stack tune on the damper side. What does this all mean? It means you have a fork that performs flawlessly in any situation, this thing instills confidence and with good reason, it's flipping amazing! The fork is held in place with Chris King headset. A cane Creek Hellbender bottom bracket is as good as it gets too. The tough but reasonable weight Halo rims spin on ultra smooth, silent, instant engagement Onyx hubs, these things are a matter class in engineering and as reliable as it gets. Shimano XTR 12 speed shifter and rear mech move the brand new chain up and down the brand new cassette as smooth as Roger Moore in a Bond movie. Tough as nails Raceface cranks power you along and a Unite chain keeper helps the n/w chainring do its job. A Hope stem grips the Burtec carbon bars. Dropper seatpost is a Bikeyoke Revive, it's very reliable. When the time comes to slow down, Hope Tech 3 V4 brakes offer grunt, modulation and damn good looks, freshly bleed too. The Schwalbe tyres are as new, the Magic Mary evo up front is perfect for banging the grip inducing forked front wheel into turns with upmost confidence. The Nobby Nic out back is fast rolling and offers enough predictable rear end drift to nail Dukes of Hazard type fun, cutties and Scandi flicks. Total build cost is around £8000, so a lot of hardware in great nick at a brilliant price... £3650

Review: Vorsprung Secus Fork Air Spring Upgrade
Coil forks require a method of introducing progression at the end of the stroke. Air forks require a method of introducing support in the midstroke. Both can be done effectively. But that doesn't make me sound gnarly so yeah... air springs are shit and coil are great.

Review: 6 Hard-Hitting Rear Tires Ridden & Rated
Grip on the front, robust but fast on the rear. Climbing traction comes the the riders positioning and application of power. Braking to slow down comes from the front and rear braking is for steering and destabilising of the bike. Big, heavy grippy rear tyres ain't fun.

Enduro World Series Announces its Largest Ever Race Calendar for 2021 with 3 Double Header Events
I love this.... it is a fecking massive task to put events on. The world is in a spin and quite frankly any race that goes ahead is an achievement. Be happy Chris and the team have found a way to make it work next year. The bandwagon will no doubt be rolled out far and wide when possible.

So nothing particularly interesting regarding damping or spring. Just a nicely machined fork.

Vorsprung Introduces the Secus Air Spring System
So as a guy that has a lot of faith in Vorsprung I have 300 miles on a Secus so far. I have Smashpot, Tractive and Lufftkappe. I am running a 2020 Pike Ultimate 140mm on a Evil Following MB. I have a Helm coil on my HT and a Smashpot on the front of my Enduro. Going to air was a deliberate decision as this is a trail bike, weight and feel both pointed to air. So I just couldn't get on with the Pike in standard form. I'm 90kg in kit and ride pretty hard on very mixed terrain. The fork was sucking into its travel by 10mm which was ok, i'd allowed for that but the lack of mid stroke was very evident and I had to run 3 tokens to get the pressure dropped enough to give good grip on the wet roots etc I ride often. Enter the Secus. Fitting was straightward, the fork was as ever pretty dry and poorly lubed from the factory. Aired up the Secus to around 20% higher pressure than before, opened all the compression up and set the rebound in the middle of the park. Firstly, the ride height was high, too high in fact and the initial sensitivity wasn't quite as soft as expected, good and controlled but not as soft as I had imagined. Support through the stroke was too high to. I had trouble driving the fork into the ground for grip. I started to drop pressure around 3psi a time.... once at around 12% more pressure than before it is now sweet. The ride height is a little lower, the initial sensitivity is superb, not soft but easy to initiate and grip is excellent. I run 4 clicks out on LSC or 2 if its wet on the chalk and clay here. The longed for mid stroke support is spot on, I love how I can leave it late in a turn and then force the front in hard and it grips, supports and just pushes back as you come off the front... flipping brilliant. Getting near full travel in a smooth controlled manner. I now have a token plus a Neapo glued to it. Overall.... another great product from Vorsprung.
