Fans of Next Level Riding
Movie Magic from Semenuk and Revel Co
I have an old cardboard box full of pretty much every mountain bike video ever released on DVD and VHS, and I've seen enough "edits" to last a lifetime, all of which has made me feel a bit 'meh' about most mountain bike-related films. I've said as much in a
personal op-ed, which earned the ire of Semenuk himself when I said that a lot of mountain bikers couldn't relate to most of these videos that are filled with gymnastic-like tricks. But then along comes Rupert Walker who, when working with the Silent Assassin himself, put together
the three-minute 'Lapse' video of Semenuk that makes time stop. Brandon's riding is, as you'd expect, unreal - a decade to tailwhip, and then a fakie to 180 to tailwhip off a drop that most of us wouldn't straight air. I don't even know if that's the correct lingo these days, but I do know that it's spectacular.
Mindblowing riding aside, it's Walker's filming and editing that really make Lapse what its: the most impressive ''edit'' in years. A lesser filmer would have still made an amazing three minutes of WTF - how can you not with riding like that - but Walker's editing, with a dash of 'Stranger Things' feel and some Alan Watts voice over, makes for the heaviest hitting video that I've seen since, well, the last time he and Semenuk teamed up.

Steve Smith Community Bike Park to Open in 2017
Steve Smith was born and raised in Cassidy, a small town on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and now the Island will be home to a new bike park in the legend's name. The Steve Smith Community Bike Park will be located in the larger town of Nanaimo, about twenty minutes north of Cassidy, and it will be home to a pump track, dirt jumps, and a skills park for riders of all levels to enjoy. There's a budget of $412,000 CAD, and the park is expected to be open by late spring or early summer of next year. From the
Nanaimo News Now story: "It is probably the most profound thing I've been able to be a part of in my life," said Stevie Smith Legacy Fund founder Michelle Corfield. "To see a community unite behind one specific thing and see B.C., Canada and people from around the world contribute to our bike park."

Unno's Carbon Creations
I probably won't ever be able to afford an Unno, but I also can't afford an Audi R8, yet I still look at them with lust-filled eyes.
Unno is a new company, founded by ex-World Cup racer and full-time engineer Cesar Rojo, a man who's largely responsible for a handful of other extremely successful designs. Unno's five bike range includes two XC bikes (a hardtail and a 100mm full-suspension); a 130mm-travel, 29"-wheel trail bike; a 160mm-travel, 27.5"-wheel enduro bike; and a 200mm-travel downhill rig.
All carbon frames are laid up and baked in downtown Barcelona, and testing is done on the local mountains just outside of the city. Destruction and fatigue testing is performed downstairs in Cero's own workshop.
The finished products look stunning, and they feature forward-thinking geometry based on short stems, long front-center measurements, and slack head angles. Yes, even the two cross-country models. Frame pricing? A lot. It starts off at €4000 for the hardtail, €5000 for the full-suspension frames, and up to €5500 for the downhill frame. Not only will you need to be okay with those numbers, but you'll also need to fit Unno's medium-sized geometry as that's the only size they'll be offering at first.
GoPro Karma Drone Owners
Heads up!
It wasn't that long ago that GoPro could do no wrong. With their pint-sized cameras being used to film everything from action sports to day-to-day life, and even as onboard dog-cams, a lot of people only thought of one name when they wanted a small video camera. This, despite many other camera options offering equal or even better specs, which goes to show you the power of marketing. No amount of marketing seems to be able to help GoPro recently, however, with the recall of their long-awaited Karma drone only adding to the company's woes.
Apparently, the four-propeller Karma drones were losing power unexpectedly, even with a fully charged battery, causing them fall out of the air like little bombs but without the exploding bit at the end. So yeah, I guess it could be even worse. And following up the Karma bombs is news that the company has also let a few hundred employees go.
Remy Metailler
Broken Back in Mexico
Urban downhill racing looks like a ridiculously dangerous thing to be doing, but there are two ways to make it even scarier: do it in Mexico, and go for a monster backflip at the end of your run. Commencal's Remy Metailler did exactly that, and due to what looked like an over-rotation, the Whistler local came back down to earth on his back rather than both wheels. Not good, but while Remy did break his T6 vertebrae, he's going to make a full recovery. In fact, the rider known for his wild riding in Whistler was out dancing that night before a scan the following day revealed the damage that he had done. ''Now I am going to rest the bone, and then go back to the gym to get stronger and healthier than ever. I am so determined and motivated to work harder than ever,'' Remy explained in a post on his personal Facebook page. Heal up, Remy!
Hillary wouldn't have
1) tried to strip away the constitutional freedoms of entire groups of people based on race or religion
2) set an example that you can assault women and get away with it because you are a person in power
3) threatened to lock up her political opponent
4) attacked freedom of the press
5) refused to address any conflicts of interest
6) openly discussed business deals with heads of state while pretending to be serving the interest of the nation
7) made a fool of herself every god damn day every god damn time she spoke
ballooned the deficit with a stimulus plan matched with a tax slash that won't help you but will mean he and his buddies won't have to pay a dime
9) emboldened every racist, homophone, and xenophobe in the country
10) dismantled every protection for workers and the environment
ad infinitum.
Hillary would have been more of then same, but you can in fact do much worse than status quo. Trump is an disaster on every front.
you get kudos simply for describing Mattis that well *slow clap*
ok, i'll give drumpf that one...he's now 1 for 1000 on his decision making percentage.
I agree with most of what you say; in the short run Trumps economic and tax plans are actually worse than Hillarys. However, Hillary is one of the most corrupt politicians in recent memory. The FBI did clear her, but the whole point is that the FBI would not have cleared anyone else. She rigged the primary against Sanders. If the american voters had rewarded corruption to this degree it would damage the institutions that our country runs on and do permanent damage to the Republic.
ahhh, Bernie - if only he wasnt messed with during the primaries
...really would have liked to see him on the iron throne.
1) A no fly zone over Syria is an escalation between the US and Russia but it doesn't not follow that we would have had WWIII.
2) I haven't heard Hillary threaten to sue or jail any reporters or news agencies for "libel" so tell me how she would destroy free press. Seriously, I had not yet heard this accusation leveled against her so please elaborate.
3) Trump was under investigation by the FBI at the same time that Hillary was under investigation but Comey didn't release open letters to congress so you didn't hear about it because Comey was playing politics and served his master well.
4) Sanders would have won if the Democratic nomination was a pure democracy. Same way Hillary would have one the general election if that were a pure democracy. You can't pick and choose one as rigged and the other as legitimate. At least be consistent.
5) A minority of American's voted for an openly corrupt and incompetent man because he lied to them and promised what ever they wanted full well knowing he couldn't/wouldn't deliver and this HAS damaged our institutions and our republic.

Oops 800 but he's promising 7million in incentives
For the most part Russia & China will just laugh their asses of at what's happening & reap the rewards, but hey, it still impacts them nonetheless.
from @baconmeteor -
My early prediction for the 2020 election: Donald Trump re-elected with 538 electoral votes, 99.98% of the popular vote. No election in 2024.
What does that even mean?
WE elected a president for OUR COUNTRY.
DEAL WITH IT!!
Repeal the Telecommunications Act of 1996
www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/18/439135/
Repeal Citizen's United.

'Till then, I'll be deep, deep in the woods, riding my bike (at least until all the trees have died due to the mushrooming climate crisis.)
All the crying about Trump getting the nod is so absurd. Not simply because of what the media is pushing viewers but simply A PRESIDENT DOESN'T HAVE THAT MUCH CONTROL. Big business influences decisions and owns more people than we could ever imagine. So while these people are in the streets...on FB and now on this bike forum complaining and/or protesting/rioting against one person, this country continues to be sold to the highest bidder.
Let's pull our heads out of our asses and stand up to big government...or stop crying about this sh*t and go ride our bikes.
As far as im concerned to have balance in society more than one view needs to be aired to gain some common ground and common sense and logic should prevail, but as of late this has not happened, only one side is heard (media) as the liberals and leftists have become what they fought against (All Animals Are Equal But Some Animals Are More Equal Than Others) anyone with alternative views to the mantra of the luvvies is immediately vilified, crucified, hung out to dry often losing their jobs, social standing and worse case arrested, this is a dangerous culture because people say one thing and think another, which to me is abhorrent and is not a community i want to co exist in, as you can see your comment has been hidden because it doesn't meet the rhetoric of the herd,a wise man once said I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.,voltaire..peace out
Thats all I asked

I blame TV and the Internets.
Think of it like this. If you were a business owner and had $100 to spend between 10 employees and the minimum wage was 10 dollars then you would have 10 people with jobs working for 10 dollars per hour. Theorhettically if you raise the minimum wage to $20, either you have to cut 5 workers or raise the price of the products. Obviously the business owner wouldn't raise the price of the product because that would make them less competitive in the market so they find a way to make due with 5 workers to keep product costs down.
With a low minimum wage prices are low for the consumer, people have more jobs and the economy runs more efficiently. Just because a worker has 'more' money to spend on products because of a higher minimum wage not only damages the middle class, who has worked at a constant wage, but also hurts the very person that was aimed to help, that min wage worker. When prices go up and min wages go up it is just raising a parralel bar.
When business owners don't make money, they don't supply jobs, expand to create more jobs and cannot buy things like houses and cars which employ an extra hundreds of people that make higher than minimum wage.
What would the country be without Walmart, McDonalds, Tyson or Nike to name a few?
Unfortunately most have been taught and brainwashed by the leftist of the screwel system past 20+ years to groupthink and follow along...clapping seals.
Now we may have serious issues with trump and crony capitalism where .gov picks winners and losers just as Obama did.
It one thing to give an entire industry incentive but not just 1 company of xyz ind.
Not allowing companies to flee .gov is anti liberty. The country and the government are two different things. Many leave the government but are still American companies although theyre physical mfg isnt on usa soil.
I like the way companies like " The John Lewis partnership " run where its employees own the company and have a say in how its run !
Sorry, care to explain that?
I do not fancy drones at all. I don't want any fkrs to fly around my neighborhood, they are disturbing enough, already without the risk of them falling on my or my kids head. Add that (always been the issue, not just about the faulty Karma) and I say fk the drones.
Also GoPro went way over the edge with sponsorships. They are as present on events as Red Bull and Red Bull has budget to send people to space.
Just ask Marcel Hirscher after that ski wc run..
