Need new rim and can't get a mavic 823 in time for whistler. Next best option please must be 32 hole,tubelss/ust and tough as nails. Are ex 721 any good?
Thanks guise, managed to find one for next day delivery so still not till weds/thurs due to bank holiday,so if it doesn't show I'll do the whistler thang. Not sure what I've done and may not even need to replace it,have something loose inside one area of the rim near weld that rattles when shaken, worst case scenario a piece of the welding has come away on the inside but, can't move it to where the valve is to try and remove it. Lbs is taking a look tues, so if it does need replacing I'll need the rim pronto to get it built up for fri, hence ordering now just to cover my ass.
Minty, thats normal. Durin manufacturing aluminum beads sometimes fork and will rattle loose after a few months of hard riding. My BFs 729s make the same noise. He's had the wheelset for 3+ years now. No catastropic failures and he rallies that bike hard.
It's a fairly common issue. There are a few forums which will confirm or you can call Mavic direct and ask.
This. Had a buddy order a set of Ultimates before we left for Whistler and they where sitting there when we got there. If you broke an 823, the 721s will be too soft.
Just take the Nomad to Whistler, that's in one piece, and watching videos a HT would be more than enough Just get a new rim, and a cheap spare pair from Superstars
