Attention thrill seekers: City8, presented by Vidéotron, is gearing up to be the urban event of the summer. Don’t miss some of the world’s top athletes tackle an all-new dirt and freestyle course by none other than Cameron Zink, a top-name designer who has worked on the X-Games and the Red Bull Rampage.

On Thursday evening at 6 p.m., Vélirium is coming to Place D’Youville in downtown Québec City...

An FMB event
A blend of music and extreme sports, City8 has been given silver event status by the prestigious Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour (FMB). The athletes will be out to impress the judges as they tackle a course made up of eight obstacles designed by Jeremy Witek of Global Action Sports Solutions—riders with the most points move on to the final for a chance to win $8,000. Athletes include Canada’s Brayden Barret Hay (ON), Mitch Chubey (BC), Andrew Bigelow (ON), Justin Skinner (ON) and Matt MacDuff (ON), while the United States, England and Sweden are also represented.

Full Athlete Listing Here.

Judges will use range, execution, difficulty, landing, and general impressions to decide which athletes end up on the podium. Judges Kyle Ebbett, Chris Lawrence, and Adam Hauck, all familiar faces, will have the tough job of judging a competition that promises to be hotly contested, while a giant screen at the end of the course will make sure no one misses a second of the action. The crowd will be able to text their vote for their favourite athlete as soon as the competition ends, with the rider receiving the most votes taking home $500 courtesy of Vidéotron. Members of the public who cast their vote are also in with a chance of winning a VIP Vélirium package courtesy of Vidéotron.

Monster Truck Rock
After the final featuring the evening’s eight best riders, Monster Truck, a Rock 100.9 presentation, will take to the stage at Place D’Youville. The group from Hamilton, Ontario, has made a name for itself with its hard rock with a hint of the blues and opened for Guns N’ Roses at the Québec City Summer Festival this past July. The foursome of Jon Harvey, Jeremy Widerman, Brandon Bliss, and Steve Kiely will be sure to have the crowd back on its feet after the show put on by the City8 athletes! And remember to end the evening in style after the show as you rub shoulders with the athletes at the Taverne on Grande Allée for the after party.

Just add a stage of urban DH race to top it off, Quebec would be an amazing spot for that kind of event. Just look at that wall ride Wink

old quebec could definitely host an incredible urban dh race. Crashed Ice is done there and that barely scratches the potential for dh lines... and its easy to find a place to watch from Smile

..."riders with the most points move on to the final for a chance to win $8,000"... "The crowd will be able to text their vote for their favourite athlete as soon as the competition ends, with the rider receiving the most votes taking home $500 courtesy of Vidéotron".
I think it's self explanatory...
