Ellsworth Epiphany SST.2 - XO Build

$1300 CAD
It's sad to let this bike go... it is such a fun bike! It's hard to find a bike today with 140mm of travel that climbs so well. It's poppy and flickable in corners and soaks up the rough stuff on the downhills. The Epiphany was selected as Outside Magazine’s Mountain Bike of the Year, and has also been called “The Holy Grail of Trail Bikes” by industry media. Seamless Aerospace grade Aluminum Hand-crafted in the USA SST Tubing-Size specific tubesets. Tube-to-tube Circumferential Welding (each tube welds completely to its connecting tube). ICT Technology Suspension (internationally patented, designed to be energy-efficient). Anti-Squat Tuning and optimization. Asymmetrical Hollowvoid chainstay reduces unsprung weight and increases stiffness and durability. - Build is SRAM XO - Drive train was completely overhauled by a local bike shop in 2016 (and then not ridden for a few years - tendon injury)... cassette, chain, rotor, rear shifter, cabling housing (all XO replacements) - Ellsworth “XC” wheelset, handbuilt and laced by master wheel builders - Fox tuned suspension for the Epiphany - Fox Factory RP23 w/ Kashima coating and lockout and Fox Factory 32 Talus fork (140 mm) w/ Kashima coating (small scratch, top of fork has never interfered with seals) - lots of lovely Ellsworth details - seat stitching, machined ellsworth-branded quick release levers, etc. - Easton carbon bar **NEW** - Brand new Continental Trail Kings - $135 value (only 2 rides on them!) Shield-wall, tubeless ready. - new ODI grips - new brake pads Bike was $6100 CAD in 2012. Overhauled in 2016 $1200. And well taken care of. I'm not bike park rider or a jumper - no big hits with this bike. I'm a 5'7", 140 lb female rider for sizing context. Frame is in good condition. Few minor scratches. The rear shock needs a new seal. Will hold pressure for your ride but loses it over time. You can DIY this... not my jam to do the mechanical stuff. Ships without pedals.

First Ride: 2022 Canyon Spectral 125 - A Trail Bike With Enduro Geometry
Yes, you're right. I've got this bike in my shopping cart as I write. To me the CF9 is a lot of kit for the money. Compared to let's say a comparable Yeti, the specs are better and Yeti is thousands more. But... as you note once the tax (can't avoid that!) and duties are added it gets closer... but still cheaper. And then there's the fact that any bike I might consider isn't available in my local LBS... what's the solution?

Interbike Preview: Two Carbon Bikes from Ellsworth
Well I have one - Epiphany SST.2 - so pile on. But as someone who actually rides an Ells all I can say is that I freakin' love it. And no I don't ride it on gravel to Starbucks but it soaked up the fantastic drops, boulders and stunts in Whistler and Squamish last summer pretty well! The suspension is so damned good. The only downside? When I let my Yeti-riding husband ride it, he won't give it back. Sorry to be so positive.
