Making it 3 years in a row, Neko took the win here at Snowshoe! However, it was an incredibly close battle, with the top 5 pro men all within 1 second. Phil Kmetz stormed down the mountain sliding into 2nd, while Kiran Mackinnon held it wide open for a 3rd.

In the Junior Expert battle, Charlie Harrison took yet another GRT win over 15 years Nik Nestoroff and Steven Walton. 2nd place finished at Nationals, Andras Simon took a mighty crash through the middle rock garden as you can watch in the video.

Jill Kintner had her closest race of the year with Camila Nogueira flying in from Argentina to take a speedy 2nd place. Kristen Courtney rounded out the top 3 not too far off pace.

The UCI Downhill World Cup should replace Windham for Snowshoe! You can get a feel for how gnarly that was by just listening to the audio. Sweaty palms watching it for sure. Too long since I've ridden Snowshoe.

Sorry. I accidentally down propped you when I meant to hit that green up array. :-(

Too much caffeine I suppose.

Just race both!! And throw in a west coast stop as well. 4 rounds in North America would be rad, but I don't know if financially it's doable for the teams

I actually just heard this is the last year in Windham, they are not gonna do WC over there anymore. I think snowshoe has the terrain to host a WC, the only problem is it is just too far from any airport for people coming from outside the U.S. or anywhere really.... It's just no easy way to get there... it's pretty much a 6 hour drive from either way you go and that sims like a lot to travel with all the equipment for the WC teams.

and thats apparently exactly why the Pro field of 30 was the largest field. There were hardly any Cat 2 or 3 racers. The East Coast just did not turn out. I understand that the New England racers have a ton of races to go to already and that SS is very far for them. But Where were the PA, OH, MD, VA, NC and SC support Categories. On the one hand it seems like the sport is doing well and on the climb again. On the other hand, all the Cat 3 together didn't add up to 30. just really bummed that here , on the East Coast, the inheritor to the NORBA Nationals can't interest more than 120 racers. Super big Props to the Incycle Intense and the Palmer Intense Teams for bringing a huge crowd of ripping fast JrX racers from Mammoth. They made up practically half the JrX field

It's really REALLY hard in the south east to muster support for DH from shops or any other potential supporting entity.

And perhaps the culture is just different enough down here that nobody wants to drive anywhere?

@Petair75: The WC crew does a good deal of travelling and could easily muster Snowshoe. People could come in to Richmond and have a 4 hour drive. A lot better then the 9 hour stretch between Gatwick and Ft Bill. Of course, the smart crew flies into Edinburgh or Glasgow, but that's still 3 hours. If you are going to whine about 3 hours then you'll whine about 4, but these guys are OK with it apparently.

@SnowshoeRider4Life Educate us why SS hasn't hosted a WC.

This is one of the few snowshoe edits that really do the place justice. Maybe people will start catching on to the awesome gnar that snowshoe has to offer. In person this track is even sicker than it looks on video.

The UCI was there, and one of the officials told me they're assessing Snowshoe for a WC... She was pleased with the track and organization... Just some other logistical stuff she said they need to address. I'd support that! Such a well-designed (while still extremely challenging) track!

I also heard rumors this weekend that the race was a trial run for a WC. Fingers crossed the rumors are true.

That track was so gnarly. That's as proper as a downhill track gets. Oh and Shaun neer looked absolutely amazing. He killed the last rock garden making everyone else look timid. Beileve

Does Shaun Neer always ride that rowdy? we really enjoyed his work!!!

After my first practice run at Snowshoe last year, I almost went back to the lodge to try to get my registration money refunded. I was completely unprepared for how nasty it was. The old course chewed people up and spit them out, and this revised upper section adds a whole new element of unpleasantness... flat, dusty, grassy turns. I love this place. Long live Snowshoe.

That looked like a brutal track. 3+ minutes of getting smacked around at high speeds.
  • 4 0
Man... Lower hareball is brutal. Definitely gotta bring your balls with you to ride that track. And that new road gap... Nah son. It's a monster

Snowshoe's Pro GRT track was the finest DH Track I've been too! The staff and surrounding area are just plain awesome. Catfish & the Boy's really showed me the trail system surrounding the slopes and I had the best trail ride of my life! It is a long drive to get there, but well worth it. I can't wait to get back there.

melissa giove...............is that Missy Giove? The missile?
  • 2 0
yes... no jokin. Racing on a rental bike and going HUGE off the road Gaps and smashing rocks as fast as Jill. But couldnt keep the crappy rental tires gripping in the grass turns. Also had a rental rebound "Sproing" off the Rock drop in the "Wild ZOne" buck her off. We were all stunned at her jumping and rock garden speed.
  • 2 0
Yes it is! We just need to get her on a properly setup bike! The fact that she could rip the rental suspension at her size is insane. Huge shoutout to Troy Lee, and the guys that got her hooked up with a fresh lid for Sunday. I don't know you, but I love you for it. 33

LL ! Missy did it. She is racing the Windham WC next week!!!! We are working on bike, gear, and housing details now. The Missile is firing off in NY in August!!!
