Feb 28, 2013Fixed Gear Fixie - 58cm
$190 GPBFixed Gear Fixie - 58cm
I bought this bike in a bad way, it needed a lot of care and attention and most of the parts needed replacing.
The frame and forks themselves were fine, just had a lot of marks and scratches... Both the frame and forks are steel, so a little heavier than some bikes of today, but equally lightweight! The frame had no stickers or branding apart from a little part from one of the stickers on the downtube, which started off with 'Daw' so I would believe the frame is an old Dawes bike, with original forks.
I restored the bike by fully stripping back the bike to just the bare frame and forks, sanded it all down to metal and prepped and primed it to give it a fresh new look.
I have removed the brakes and gears making it a much simpler brake less fixie. I am including a front brake though as it gives you the option of running one if you wanted...
The wheels have been custom built with bright green 700c double walled rims, laced with orange spokes to white hubs. The rear is a flip-flop hub so can be used with both the 16t fixed freewheel or a freewheel driver.
The bars, grips, stem, stem adapter, headset bearings, bottom bracket bearings, saddle, seat post, tyres, chain and pedals are all new. The only parts I've re-used is the chain set, headset cups and the optional front brake calliper. The lever is also new with new cables and brake blocks.
The bike rides really well, especially as it didn't start life out as a fixie. It is solid and sturdy but fairly lightweight and simple. It's great to commute on and also a great casual rider. The gear ratio is set at 52-16t so provides lots of speed and a good cruiser. The chainring also has the original smaller ring inside, I believe this is a 38t ring.
I'm only selling as I have no space for this one and I would prefer it to go to a good home as its a great looking bike!
Just ask if you have any questions...
I can deliver locally if needed
