The 661 Mini DH returns to the Forest of Dean for FOUR races this winter season.

Race Dates
Sunday 1st December 2013
Sunday 26th January 2014
Sunday 23rd February 2014
Sunday 30th March 2014

The 661 Mini DH is now its 6 year in the Forest of Dean, the races started out small and have grown to be the races to do over the winter.

We have many famous names over the years who come to down to race for the laid back nature and good vibe the mini downhill races has to offer. It's now a breeding ground for local new talent that will surprise quite a few with their race times. Lots of good tracks have sprung up over the last few years but you get to race on the best of these. Its a good mix from swooping corners, roots & rocks sections but everyone will have fun riding. This makes the racing really intense where every single second counts. Riders will be competing against the clock to get the fastest time. Two timed runs the winner is the rider with fastest time.

Quote from Hot Dates in MBUK magazine “Probably the most fun you can have in the winter. Mini DH racing at its absolute finest and the perfect opportunity for younger riders to have a crack at racing. It’s making us feel all warm inside just thinking about it!“

Really stoked about this....but does anyone who which dates will be which track?... I really want to make sure i attend the Sheeps Skull and Ski Run races. Not sure about GBU. Great track but im not a fan of riding uphill mid way through my run!

GBU is the one I want! more drops jumps, better road gap - I don't think they've ever used it for the races tho :-(
  • 4 1
yeah they have used gbu for races, i raced on it in april. Its not a good track to race on because it have the big flat bit in the middle

Guys we have never done a race on GBU, there are some other people who have done summer races there. All our race are during the winter and always on downhill tracks. Just check out the video to see the track.

they dont announce which track its on until a few days before

I agree simeon10 but the first race in the summer series was on gbu. I want corkscrew and gbu.

 Matt9382. I know! It sucks
  • 1 0
which track is the one with 2 big rock drop offs?
  • 1 0
It's on ski run. There will also be a corkscrew race and it's likely they will do one on gbu aswell this series.

Not gunna lie, I don't want GBU to be used for the first race/round in December. Ski Run hasn't been used for ages now for either the summer series or the mini downhill. I'd happily race on ski run, there's not much pedalling involved and it's a decent track... pleeasee!?

Went to FOD yesterday and did an uplift day. Every line is now nicely dug in and pretty rough, should make for some great racing!

I think gbu is the best one! There's nothing wrong with a bit of pedalling we are all on bikes after all!!
  • 3 0
No I totally agree. And the top part is super rad I find with the fast flat sections and the the two doubles and then the tight turns dropping you onto the fire track. The drops are sick and the jumps at the bottom are insane too. Great track!!

This might be a stupid question but I've always wondered why marshals blow whistles when riders pass them in races. Anybody know?
  • 1 0
So people know where the riders are for crossing the track and maybe photos aswell I would have thought

Also if you've had an off or a nightmare of a run you can tell how far behind the next rider is and make sure you get out of their way.

I've heard that it's on Corckscrew... :/ and there's videos of the local lads practicing sections of that track for next week. I hope it's not Corckscrew...

I like Gbu into corkscrew then back into gbu
  • 2 1
Really how can you do that?
  • 3 1
I thought gbu started at the top with all the mini doubles, then as you come into the clearing after the big table, rather than go right carrying on gbu, go left into corkscrew down onto the fire road, turn right, a little pedal then back onto gbu....or have i got my tracks mixed up? You miss out all the pedally bit on corkscrew
  • 4 0
im not sure if the doubles at the top are GBU or just random doubles. if they are GBU then your right. The top part of GBU is abit naff compared to corkscrew on the left
  • 1 1
You mean corkscrew top section to the whole of GBU after the big table on corkscrew
  • 3 0
I rode it like that several times yesterday, started with the doubles, into corkscrew to the first fire road, then right, along the fire road and into GBU. Corkscrew top section is a lot more fun to ride than GBU top section
  • 1 0
Yes....thats how i ride it. So is the top with the initial roll in not called gbu?
I like that top section of corkscrew, its more dh orientated, a bit rocky and rooty and then once you hit the fire road, you still hit all the drops on gbu

This is what most people do

here's a little request, how about putting the start at the top of a hill and the finish at the bottom at a round or two, rather than flat / uphill pedals.
  • 5 1
We only use the Downhill tracks for the winter races.
  • 1 0
