Northstar Downhill Series: Getting Loose on Boondocks

Boondocks is one of those trails that will just never be tacky, ever. Primarily comprised of Lake Tahoe's famous decomposed granite, this trail is known to contain bottomless ruts of sand littered with hidden boulders that act more like mines, blowing up unprepared riders. But for the downhill racers, the track is more like 4 minutes of controlled two-wheel drifting down a tunnel of dust. Northstar satisfies Northern Californian's hunger for downhill with its summer downhill race series. Equipped with several trails that can be classified as true downhills with challenging, unpredictable terrain that changes almost daily due to heavy rider traffic and the west's continuously drying climate, Northstar brings us the venue to test our skills against one another and ultimately the clock.

On a dry, hot summer day in California, people shredded their bikes. The fastest of all these people was the mythical, Mikey Sylvestri. Known to pretty much everyone who's seen him ride as one of the most naturally talented bike riders of all time, it was a pleasure to see him back on the clock, distancing himself from the pack by over 5 seconds.

Second was earned the Ryan Condrashoff, a rider gaining momentum each season showing the downhill world he's definitely a force to be reckon with. And speaking of momentum, third was taken by Parker Robinson, one of the younger shredders committed to earning his stripes as a US downhiller. For the ladies, it was no surprise to see Adrienne Schneider on top of the podium, the only change being the addition of 'Evans' to her last name as another beautiful downhill shredding lady has been swooped off her feet and married away.
