Trek Slash 9.8 - Review
Forget cost . It's between this and a yt for me. The yt ( on paper ) is around 3lb heavier , that's significant but it can also come with 10 mm more travel. So is the extra 10 mm worth a 3lb weight gain ?

Video: Bikepark Wales is Coming
Until we get chairlifts and gondolas we will never compete with the likes of whistler or even ski resorts in the Alps.

Video: Specialized Racing World Cup DH3 - Vallnord
I wouldn't mind betting that he is only on that bike for this season and that next year there is a "new demo" that is completely designed around him. I wonder of the reason his current bike is not dialled is because he is spending time testing and not just riding the stock bike. The athertons were on a different fury last year and didn't have a great season, this year, new bike and instant step up!

Video: Curtis Keene Shreds Some of BC's Best MTB Trails
Great video. Clearly spec told him to make it look really "pop-y" . I am sure it would be a fun bike, I would like to try it but its got enduro written on it and as an enduro race bike it is just not competitive on weight. My 26 inch 155 mm travel aluminium bike is 3lb s lighter ! The enduro 29er is just too heavy to be a serious contender for enduro racing. I will wait for the 2015 version that is "10% lighter and 30% stiffer! "

Video: Jack Reading and William Jones Ride Local
Couldn't agree more. He managed to reach World Cup level while studying at uni and now working full time as an optician. I don't think his Ellsworth deal was much. He really deserves a big team to pick him up and see what he can do with some proper backing. The videos help promote him, that's got to be a good thing hasn't it? Plus he has results to back it up.

How is Aaron Gwin so fast?
Interesting reading my comment a year later. Change of team and just as sudden gwin is back down the field. Still phenomenal but not dominating and not even winning races . Meanwhile Gee changes team and steps it up.

Pinkbike Poll: Are Trails Becoming Too Manicured?
The poll is missing an answer, "they are not all becoming manicured " . I've been riding for 25 years, since before suspension and before trail centres and bike parks. Back in the day we rode fire roads, bridle ways and natural single track. Race courses were mostly smooth fire roads. Nothing we rode was as technical as modern trail centres provide. I am fortunate to live equidistant between gisburrn, stainburn and Lee quarry. I do not think they are "manicured". Ok some parts maybe have been made easier but mostly the riding is highly technical. Definitely not manicured .

Finals Results: Val di Sole World Cup 2013
People are assuming Gwin left for money. Maybe his ethical conscience made him leave a company heavily involved In a massive doping scandal. Maybe he needed to distance himself from unethical Trek, maybe specialised just don't give their riders the "top fuel" to make them win?

Women Who Ride - Holly Feniak
I think that the problem is YOU! There is nothing overtly sexual about that top picture! To be honest it's not even very flattering. I read the whole article without any thoughts other than nice to see a girls girl doing well. I think she will be a better influence than some of the tomboy butch girls the sport attracts. I was so surprised at the comments that I went back and looked and still can't see what the fuss is about. That picture has nothing sexualised about it. If you think it has then the problem is YOU! Your mind is the problem.

Doping: Crime and Punishment?
Almost everyone would like a little advantage. When you drink that powerade or eat that carb bar are you not hoping for a little extra speed or endurance? It's just chemicals so it's not a big step to go from supplements to drugs. So your on a ride next week and someone says "hey have you tried that new gel from powerbar"? " I cleaned that massive climb after taking that" . Would you go out and buy it? What if he then smokes you on the next climb? Would you buy it then? At what point do "supplements" become performance enhancers.? The top level dh's are all incredibly skilled. Often their times are 100ths of a second different. So what might give one the extra edge? In road racing they say look out for those who suddenly leap from doing well to doing phenomenal. Mr peat a few years back suddenly had a phenomenal season after a few years in decline. mr Gwinn jumped from top 15 to destroying the completion ? I for one would hope that there is a line and that my heroes don't cross it but it makes me wonder. One other thing. My wife used to be the person who chaperoned tennis players at Wimbledon after their matches. They were not allowed out of sight till the test was done. Not even to go to the loo. They were not allowed to drink anything or eat anything till the test was done. Our dh's are often handed beers from the crowd or sen swigging their sponsors energy drink straight after a race. How rigorous is the testing in do?
