The story begins with a chain drop in a city which is so flat, that we calibrate our rulers by it. Its so damn flat.
After some some understanding and initial bullshit designs, the 1st chainguide was made. The chainguide was a crap itself, but it steered the way to some upgrades.
The idea was born.
From that point on, my idea was to make my own cnc machine, where I can produce everything I design. The ideas, the designs, all was summed up when the machine was finished, and the possibilities realized.
In that moment, there was no time, and there was no pain, only cnc machine, and the beauty of design, creation. After 15 hours strait, the moment when you hold something that you have designed few hours ago, is at least, impressive.
With the frame at that time, I was fully focused on the chain stay chainguides, so several types were made.
It was my next frame that has pushed me on the ISCG 05 tabs, and there is where revolution started.
New design was so luring, that I just could not stay away from it. mistakes were made, and corrected with each design.
It was really, go big or go home. So I stayed home, and did some more machining
.
The local riding population were most supportive, but there were also some people saying:"its only v.4" stuff. a*sholes were forgotten, and the machining continued. I must say that I was impressed with the willingness from my local community for the purchases of my, prototypes, at most. For that, I salute you fellas.
Carbon was always so exotic, that I had to give it a go. So my 1st carbon chainguide ever made. The moment of pride XD
Looking back from now, I can only feel the pain and owe to the stubbornness as I don't know if I would have done it the same at this point. From time to time, it is good to look back and remind your self of the path taken, to remain strong in the times, when it feels difficult, and actually its bullshit.
Reverse C backplate was actually designed due the frame limitations, and the fact that each prototype required a crank removal, which is not that nice and quick.
Even the anodizing I wanted to try, so I invested a shitload of time, and a little money, to have my own anodizing lab. Now I know, that for beginners its ok, but for pro level of quality, its a science.
Everything is possible, if you put a lots of time in it. Nobody will tell you the whole story, you have to dig it for yourself. And then, when you learn about the matter, you learn about yourself. To learn how hard will you "dig in" for the knowledge is something that nobody cant take it away from you, ever.
This is my 1st actually SOLD downhill chainguide, and it was sold to a Dragan the Friend
https://www.pinkbike.com/u/dragonaut/. Major thanks to you brother, as you probably boosted me to press on, as my money and will was breaking at that moment.
So gadgets were made, and some of them are pretty awesome, and I am looking to restore the production of them.
After some time, an Enduro chainguide was made, and now its f*cking awesome chainguide, and our best selling product of all time.
Here was the 1st initial enduro guide, with open design, and super light features.
Here how it looks now, and I personally love it the most, as I had the inspiration in the 2 AM, and the next morning, the prototype was finished. The best things in life at the most easy going.
Now, our company has a small team of 6, and we are always looking to improve and push our own limits, to create a better product.
Until next time, when I have this kind of inspiration.
Cheers,
Marko
We are stoked you've come all this way, and delivered an amazing product!
I'm loving my shovel!
