Dude, your videos are cool and really well done. There is no denying that you are very talented. But can we please see more riding in them? I want to see how well these pros rip up the course! Thanks.
Yesh, thank you! A massive part of enduro gaining a larger fanfare will be through it's exposure because of videos like this. You will not entice new riders by putting out 3 min. edits with only 20 seconds of riding and the rest with interviews and establishing shots of products.
Please just make an edit that shows riding within 30 seconds of the start and mostly compromised of them ripping around the amazing trails that Oregon is known for. The absurd speed that these dudes ride at on trails that will make any rider drool is what gets people into it, not the multiple shots of products, interviews with EVERY podium finisher or people charging up a dirt road.
Honestly if you made those changes, these would be the flagships of enduro race vids.
I actually think he does a good job of showing the sponsors with style. Respect the industry side, cause that's all enduro really does.... Gets more people hyped on buying and riding....
I've photographed that race a few times and I can say that it's truly disappointing to see the most easily accessed and least interesting parts of the Ashland race showcased in this video. How in the hell are you going to only film the fire road sprint and not something like Horn Gap?
The videos have been well produced and timely, but man, you're missing the action...
That being said: HELL YES TO RIDDLE AND SLAVEN. So stoked for you guys.
I don't want to harp on anything, @TomTeller - that you can turn around a highly-produced edit in such a short time tells me you're a talented producer - but as a competitor this weekend I was hoping to see some features like the gnarly switchbacks in the latter two stages of the race. The trail doubles and the berms were in great shape. I think they would have translated pretty well to video. I would have liked to see how the paces through those sections differ from pros down through the classes.
Tom shoots for the Oregon Enduro Series and this race, even though points will count toward the OR Enduro Series, is operated by Ashland Mountain Adventures and is called the Ashland Mountain Challenge. I think Tom's focus at this event was to get a lot of footage for sponsors of the OR Enduro series, thus not a lot of race coverage. This race was very tough to cover as it was spread out all over the place and long travel-times made getting from one stage to the other with equipment almost impossible. I'm sure Camas will be different...new course! Photos up soon!
I wouldn't mind a slight loss in production value for better shots of the rippin around. Hell all he needs is a steady cam and one of those small video cams like the DSLR... that should be light enough to lug around on the different stages and getting shots of the practice as well as the race. I gotta agree though that it would be a TON of energy to do that so maybe... bring in a friend to contribute some footage?
Cool vid. I would love to see some riding and small bio on the people who win in the Recreational divisions. The non sponsored racers who take time off of work and race out of their own pocket. that honestly impresses me more than sponsored pros.
Definitely going to this event again next year! It was an awesome time just spending time with everybody and riding the local stuff. In the three days we rode there, we tallied just about 100 miles of riding and over 30,000 vertical elevation feet lost...doesnt get much better!!!
This is what an Enduro looks like, organisers take note pse! Also a great video edit, balance of riding epic and off the bike stuff plus capturing the nature of the course, feel for the dude who ended up in the creek, and so many custom Zocchis 55s oh lala vimeo.com/69023094
