Most people have something that shapes their lives while growing up. For me it was downhill mountain biking. From when I turned 14 through to about 19 I rode my bike every single day.
A lot has happened since those days, but the bike is still there. There has been much time off in between, but I always end up back at a point where I just want to ride. And it is overcoming me again, it's time to ride.
I'm in Thailand now, in the last week of a 5 month MMA training holiday
http://mmapath.blogspot.com/ and all I can think about is getting home and getting lost on some single track.
After nearly two years off the bike I've decided I'm going to do this properly, I have a couple of new bikes and I am heading to Whistler for a full 5 month season of riding with my Dad and my best pal Johnny.
It's always different getting back on the bike after a long break, I know I can be fast but I'm not sharp and I have to think rather than just react.
To use a famous quote "the skill's there"
It usually takes a few weeks of riding like a wussy though....
