You mean one!!! British downhill!!!! BCF sort it out. This is a joke. Every year we all have to lug to Scotland at least twice and while yes the tracks are good it costs so much to do it. We are doing the same thing over and over and no one seems to listen to us when we say a round in England would be nice. We have great tracks like Gawton and alike that we never use because peoe like monster can't get there truck in!!! I mean come on. All a racer wants is a good track and a fast uplift to get you some runs on it. No one cares if the pointless lorry displaying grips that they won't sell you can't park up. Something needs to be done and it has for a long time!!!
Hopton is a great track , rough as fuck and a perfect uplift service and central for the UK.
Bringewood is there too , a bit played out now and a bit short but still good.
Bucknell is also a really good track.
Hahaha!! Everyone sobbing about having to drive to ride an actually challenging track and you put this, most appropriately placed comment I've seen for a while. Hero!
Monster haven't brought a truck to a BDS for over 2 years now. The reason we can't use Gawton is because there is no where to pit and park 500 plus cars, let alone a big finish area for all the riders and pro teams.
Ladies,
Lets stick to the facts: We have the best national DH series in the World (I would say that). Think yourself lucky that you can get anywhere in the UK within a day. Many countries National series means they have to fly: Canada, America, Australia etc.. or drive for a few days if not more!
It's £75.00 to race all rounds, not £80 to ride Moelfre.
Show me a good venue in England and we will go there. I live in Birmingham so a trip to England would be nice! We have gone for the best tracks out there (Rheola were struggling for an uplift coach company to use).
It's not been called BCF for almost ten years now. It's called BC - British Cycling.
Call it what you want, entries open January 3rd 09:00 so if you are prepared to travel (It's a National series) and you want to race against the best on the best tracks, you know where we will be.
They pick the best tracks and they happen to not be in the flat south of England. I don't see how people are moaning when it's probably the best National Series in the World. We have to use the best tracks , simple.
Wales wales wales. I'm Thinking thats why the english tried to take over scotland and wales 100's of years ago !! They built castles next to all the mountains because they knew that their great great great grandkids would have had some awesome tracks to rip up. Sorry to all the english out there :-)
This is an awesome series.. But in no way is it "British" esp since our recent politic.. I hear the calls for an english round.. It's been called for before. I'm sure all the venues and tracks will be amazing this year.. and no doubt the huge amount of logistics is venue deoqndant... . But, bluntly... One race should be in England... Shouldn't it???
It seems if you want to try and make a name for yourself in mountain biking now you need a lot of money.yes like some previous comments have said there good tracks they've chosen, but only if you live in that part of the country.yes the bds is a great series but very much not British.the closest one for me is atleast a 4 hour drive providing the traffics good.how about for 2016 some of the British rounds are in Britain?
shouldnt really stop you tho mate if you want to race. Last season i was living in Germany and made the trip back for all but one of the BDS rounds.
and Fort Bill is always worth the drive.
I would love to see an event in ENGLAND just like everyone else and Gisburn Forest would be an awesome place to do it. There are some good hardstands where the trucks could set up and some ass kicking runs through some heavy tech sections.
I live in England. The vast majority of everything has to focus around London so well done for braking the mould. Let's face it Scotland and Wales have the best venues so why not have it in those countries. If you live in the south of England just do what the majority of British people have been doing for hundreds of years, travel.
i dont really understand much about BDS.... I plan to go watch some but also want to race them in a few seasons but cant find much info on how to and what standard you need to be etc... any help
All the ones in Wales are in the north. Which is where I live.
It's a shame for people in England as the distances to drive are big. It all adds up money wise.
