Still battling with injuries sustained earlier in the year while training at home in Australia, Graves today had to announce that his shoulder's aren't quite ready to take the pummelling the next two EWS rounds are certain to deliver.

Jared Graves raced the Yeti SB5C again following his success at Mt Buller earlier in the series. Parts Shimano XTR drivetrain with Stages Power meter Shimano XTR Race brakes Fox 36 fork Fox Float X RAD shock Thomson dropper Post Maxxis Minion DHF front new after last-minute change Maxxis Ikon rear DT Swiss EX471 wheels.

He made the following statement on his Facebook account:

bigquotesAs EWS rounds 2 and 3 are just around the corner, it's time to mention that despite some good (but very frustratingly slow) progress on my shoulders, I won't be racing in Ireland and Scotland later this month. They just aren't quite ready to handle flat out descending yet. Rest assured my training and rehab is in full swing and I'll be firing on all cylinders when I return for racing next month for the first 2 Big Mountain Enduro races in Colorado before EWS number 4 in France. Thanks for all the support! - Jared Graves.

EWS World Champion Jared Graves is on his way to the Rotorua Bike Festival Friday February 13 - Sunday 22...

Pinkbike will have a full interview on the site soon with all the details from direct Jared.

From everyone at Pinkbike, heal up Gravesy!

You missed the memo, that Jerome Clementz won the opening round and is healthy.

@troyleedesigns so that means Jay will automatically win all the next rounds? Yeah, right...

Jerome can win holding baguette under his arm and smoking a Gallouise! All shall fall into French hands nao!

Jerome is one of the greatest riders ever, I'm just saying, that Fabien, based on his toughness from former races, would well deserve the overall title!

Three guys that I was really looking forward to seeing have now been ruled out through injury. Graves, Hill and Peat. Still, there are a lot of complete wizards to be seen along with the local lads.
